Re: Welcome!

I would probably place it on DriveThruRPG as a Pay What You Want and see where it goes. I'd rather it be a community effort, by the community, for the community. If any negligible money was made then I would see it as a donation towards my InDesign time. Format would be PDF.

Re: Welcome!

Hello everyone! Howard (aka Bravesteel) here! I'm from Leavenworth, Kansas (Yes, where the prisons are. Yes, let the Oz jokes commence. Yes, I'm bitter! ;)) Already dived into a few discussions. I plan on setting up a Swords & Wizardry fan magazine based at these very forums. I am also going to be r...

Different Forum Theme

I was thinking about this earlier today. It would be great if we could have a theme other than the current "white-space" one. I may be alone in this, but I absolutely dislike reading through websites with tons of white space. If this isn't feasible it isn't a big deal, but I thought I'd bring it up!...

Re: Playing Pure Fighters

We are starting our campaign today, I'll be sure to give a report on it, but I will be only allowing Fighters to have the bonus to melee damage. Fighters have hardly anything as it is, and I was thinking Why would I want to play a Fighter? right when the information box came up in in the rulebook ab...

Re: The Success of Basic Fantasy and S&W

I agree, the BFRPG rulebook is very nicely presented as far as ease of understanding and where to find things. I think that reflects the continuous edit/update cycle. One of the key differences between S&W and BFRPG that makes me prefer the former, however, is the power curve. It is not as steep wi...

Re: Randomness in character creation

For backgrounds, I like the Zenopus Archives OD&D and Holmes backgrounds sheet . I think the last time I used it I let the players choose from the list, but random would be fine too. Definitely adding this to my campaign, when it starts, as this easily adds a little bit of flavor to each individual...

Re: S&W is better than D&D

I like the fact that both Ascending and Descending Armor Classes are baked into the system, literally a requirement in the license terms. I love the single saving throw, although, as I am learning the rules I have considered using that as a base and letting my players add a relevant ability score mo...

Re: The Success of Basic Fantasy and S&W

I found the blog post pretty interesting. I came to Swords & Wizardry (only just bought a shed load of books) because of Rappan Athuk, not because of the game itself. I really wanted to play through the dungeon with my group and Pathfinder is not my bag of tea, so Swords & Wizardry it is! I can hone...
