Re: Just ran SW at FLGS ...
My Flavor ... Swords & Wizardry - Northwind I decided to interpret the popular megadungeon, Barrowmaze Complete, as the scenario/campaign of choice. There were three players that braved the Desolate Swamp to get to the infamous dungeon. The Dwarf Tunnel-Fighter had bought a pony to ride and carry su...

Just ran SW at FLGS ...
Our FLGS here in Dover, Ohio is probably no different than a lot of FLGS. There's an overwhelming presence of Magic the Gathering and a splash of D&D5th. Last week, my gaming group unanimously decided to play at the store, for several reasons - some out of a lack of old school representation, others...

Isn't it interesting ...
Just glancing at the forum today, I made an observation in contrast to other D&D/D&D-like forums ...
There are more posts in the play-by-posts section than there are in S&W discussion. This seems to me that folks are playing S&W rather than discussing S&W.
Interesting, eh?

Re: My House Rules - Northwind
Thanks for the kind words, gents. I just hope there's something in the tome you can use in your games too. As for running a game around here - I've never done anything like that before - but maybe some day soon ... You've certainly got me thinking about it ... I'll let ya know when.

My House Rules - Northwind
I converted my OD&D game to Swords and Wizardry for convenience. Too many different systems and books. I created this pdf to simplify things for myself mostly, for my players secondly - as they really don't care what game we play as long as the campaign continues. I thought there might be interest i...

Re: A General Question
I know ... I have the PDF and I'm including many of the Character Classes in my right up, as they rock!
The BHB method is so simple as to be GENIUS. it is what appeals to me most in differences between S&W and OD&D.

Re: A General Question
I think what appeals to me most about S&W is that absolutely no matter how much stuff is added, it still remains simple to run/play. Our group likes options. They come to the game from different rpg backgrounds. I am adding A LOT of character Classes to satisfy the itch, so to speak. That adds more ...

A General Question
First of all, I'm not trolling this site or anyone who is a member; I have a legitimate question to ask because I keep coming back to it when I consider Swords & Wizardry. I have OD&D and have been using it for a few years now. I like Swords & Wizardry's layout, but that's not enough to get me to ru...
