Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
Never mind again. No matter what I do, when I get to "Make Print-ready File", after clicking I get nothing but a "visit Lulu support" or some such, plus emails about errors concerning the document (the WB:FMAG pdf that I only extracted the cover image from). Then, finally...success...except it claim...

Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
Scratch the part about the thicker paper. I looked (for the first time ever) on the book creation stuff on Lulu and saw that the weight of the cream paper is now the same as other standard paperback and hardbacks. Things have changed I suppose. After all, I did order my OD&D collection hardcover way...

Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
Sooo... I was poking about on Lulu looking for some way to throw away money. I happened upon the second edition of Whitehack. I saw that its hardbacks are cloth-covered with dust jackets. Now, I have a (sshhhh) compilation of the OD&D 3LBBs like this and the interior paper is slightly thicker than m...

Re: Getting started with S&W
When I read about S&W, or any old school play reports, there are new aspects of gaming that seem significant that we're not used to, but I'd love to incorporate. Managing followers, morale and loyalty, resources, encumbrance (assuming gold=XP, encumbrance becomes a lot more important). The ability ...

Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
So does this mean the only hardcover will be the dragon cover? I was hoping for a hardback of the b&w version. (Note: not that I'll whine if that's not the case, I'm just curious...and hoping.).

Re: The Success of Basic Fantasy and S&W
While I was working on the book, I made a list of names for the game. I ultimately decided to try just White Box because I wasn't thinking it would be a "new" game, I just wanted to build the White Box community. I added the Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game as the subtitle to make it a little diff...

Re: The Success of Basic Fantasy and S&W
I think all White Box needs (though, honestly it doesn't really need it) is more blogosphere and G+ coverage. That stuff spreads and spreads quick in the close-knit OSR community. When it does/has folks familiar can educate those gamers that are not normally within those spheres. Even today folks on...

Re: The Success of Basic Fantasy and S&W
Re: "confusion" - No, I didn't mean to come off as being negative. It's not that WB is "adding to the confusion". I was only attempting to explain/examine as to how even the three 'official' flavors of S&W take newcomers slightly off-guard. After the flavors are (easily) explained, they get it. Whit...
