Untold Adventures: Deluxe Edition

Post by geordie racer »

James Spahn has released his Minimalist Fantasy Role-playing game Untold Adventures with extra options (backgrounds etc) as a deluxe edition. Based on White Box and stripped down to 2 classes, I prefer it to S&W Continual Light, but what do you guys think ?

I haven't looked at the deluxe edition, but I did skim the original one that came out a few weeks ago. It reads more like a set of house rules for WB than anything else, I think he should have just released it as a PDF, something like "hey here are my WB house rules", rather than a new game (Paul Gorman did this really well with his own set of WB house rules). It's also only about 30 pages shy of the 3rd print of WB, so I'm having a hard time with the 'minimalist' aspect. S&W Light is minimalist, this is not. I was put off by the abstraction of weapons and armor into generic categories, it seemed a little boring. I guess I had a bad first impression and so didn't rush to download this version :). But it seems this one has an adventure, so I think I'll take a look.
