Alexander enquires with Milton: "Did you see any of Lord Dunley's men at all..? Apparently, we have come unnoticed, and we can still follow through with our plan to strike fast and unexpected at night."

Milton croaks back, All clear. Maybe we spooked them when we were here a few nights back.

Alexander mutters: "They hardly seemed impressed by our presence that night, let alone spooked..." Turning to sergeant Gustoff: "Instruct your men to set up camp and prepare for our nightly raid!"

The sergeant attends to his task will due diligence. After a cold meal of rations, the men ready their weapons and armor for the battle ahead.

"What plans do you have, Sir Alexander?" asks Sgt. Gustoff as he wipes his hands.

He looks at the waning crescent of Pallandria. The large moon is a silvery white sickle in the sky. The blood red moon of Heimos is naught to be seen.

"Tis a good night for this...Heimos is new and hiding his evil visage. The light of Pallandria is but slight and may give us an advantage. My men are ready to do what needs be done. We shall free these people from the scum holding them."

"I'm thinking to send a few men ahead to barricade the doors of the great hall. Most of Dunley's men are bound to be in there, getting drunk. On their signal the troops will move in to quietly and swiftly alert the townsfolk and lead them back to the ships." Alexander turns to Milton and Aldarren: "Before Dunley's soldiers know what's going on and they manage to free themselves I imagine we'll be long gone. What do you think?"

The company converges upon the edge of the village with stealth. All appears quiet as you look out upon the cluster of thatched huts. The great hall sits in the center. No lights are visible in the town, but you catch the smell of wood smoke.

The grizzled sergeant looks over at the young knight, Alexander. "Sir, I have an uneasy feeling about this. There will be blood spilled this night."

Your scouts report no movement around the village. There is no sign of any forces massing for a defense.

What are your actions?

I like your idea, Alexander. I've always been more for stealth than bloodshed, when possible, says Milton.

"It's almost too quiet, indeed.. Let's be on our toes here." Alexander agrees with Gus. After nightfall, he will instruct a small group of men to quietly move into the village and barricade the doors to the great hall, to then give a signal so that the rest may move in to their preassigned houses, alert the townsfolk and lead them out of the village, to the ships.

The signal is given. A small group of five men-at-arms move quietly between the huts. Not a sound comes from either side as they approach the large central hall. One door is barricaded with wooden poles cut for that purpose.

Suddenly, a cry of alarm comes from the rear of the great hall. The shout of a sentry puts the remainder of your forces into action. The sergeant moves forward with the remainder of his men (ten of them) to form a line of defense, crossbows trained on the great hall.

The exploratory force can be seen running back towards the line of defense. Several half naked warriors give pursuit, but stop when they see the line of soldiers aiming at them with their crossbows.

The sergeant speaks calmly to Alexander while keeping his crossbow tight against his cheek, "Give word, sir and we shall let fly a volley..."

Alexander lifts his hand: "Hold your fire, sergeant..." He then raises his voice and addresses Lord Dunley's men: "Turn around and begone! Leave this village and never return, if you value your lives! Let it be known that Lord Wickersham will not let this world fall into the hands of Chaos. In the never dawning night that fell after Godfall now the light of your true ruler breaks through: the Kingdom will prevail!"
