Milton, Alexander, Frederick, and Alderren let loose another volley...out of 8 arrows, 7 find their mark!
Four of the remaining Men-at-arms fire their crossbows bolts...out of 4 bolts, 2 find their mark!

A hail of arrows and bolts land on the enemy!

One crossbow man falls and one is wounded!

One spear man dies with an arrow in the neck!

The dog handler retreats with a nasty wound to the leg!

His mastiff takes a bolt in the hind quarters, howling in pain, he retreats with his master!

A total of 3 more enemies are dead! The remaining 5 break ranks and run back to the manor!

As you follow their retreat, you see more figures coming out of the manor. A couple big fellows in heavy armor, followed by a thin man in black robes, and a handful of other guards.

It looks like a second wave is gathering strength.

Alexander nods at the Rama's advice: "Perhaps we should indeed..." He will shout the order to retreat into the woods, hoping Dunley and his men don't go into pursuit.

Alexander and Milton move off into the woods, followed by the remaining 4 men-at-arms.

Sep, the villager, lies where he fell.

Silent and grim faces meet you as the men struggle to carry their fallen brethren.

You note that this burden may be your undoing...

There is no immediate sign of pursuit, yet it seems unlikely this will stand.

Perhaps, the enemy is tending to their wounded as well?

What are your actions?

The company from New Wickersham makes their way back from the manor and arrives at the deserted town of Harkbone. Aldarren notes that Sgt. Gustafson and his men have a headstart back to New Wickersham.

The woodsman convinces the men-at-arms to bury their fallen brothers in the graveyard at Harkbone.

"Today, the enemy has won the field. We shall have our day, but let us return to Wickersham and make ready for our next encounter!"

A somber mood sets in as the party begins their march to the west.
