Tarmo shoulders the door and with a heavy push, springs it open. In the torchlight he can see a cramped stairway down ending in a blackened iron gate. It is shut and a low hallway continues beyond it.
From behind Balthar hears the sounds of movement. The sibilant whispering of many voices fill the air, "Heimos calls for you.,,.he will cleanse the unfaithful with fire..."
Tarmo can see a large group of men coming down the hall...several of them are carrying torches and others have wooden buckets.
Actions?

Balthar whirls around at the sound of movement behind him. Does he see anything in the torchlight?

ooc: Point of clarification - are the men in the hallway behind the closed gate? Or are they coming in from the entrance above? Or do we have two groups of men approaching from each direction?

The men are approaching from behind you...they way you have just come.
So...only one group that you know of and they are pursuing you.
