Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
"Sounds good, I'm starting to get quite fed up with this rain..." responds Alexander.
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
The company pads up to the large farmhouse, making as little noise as possible.
As you approach, you can hear the rough laughter of men, coarse talking and swearing. A crack in the door only reveals firelight and shadows. Occasionally some movement as well.
Who shall do what?

Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Can we roughly estimate how many men are inside? Do we hear the sound of just a few, dozens, or...?
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
The sound of at least a half dozen voices are coming through the door...
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Alexander seems to be a bit less eager to enter: "Let's walk around the farmhouse first to see if there are any windows to peak through: I'd like to know what kind of folk we can expect to find inside..."
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Milton says, Sure and peeks in a window if he can find one.
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Milton makes his way around the side of the farmhouse looking for a window. He finds none, but flattens himself to the side of the thatched wall as another door opens.
Out stumbles a drunken fellow who stumbles out into the dark. He is singing some song that can't be recognized and stands still in the night air, taking a leak.
Peaking in the crack of the partially open door, Milton spies a long table in an open hall. A fire is blazing and there are about six or so rough looking men attired in leather or ring mail. At least one serving girl is also there.

Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Milton enters through that door. Hullo, is this the town tavern?
Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
Evidently, the men inside take exception at the appearance of a casual visitor. A shout of alarm is raised as several armed men make haste to the door!
[no surprise, their init = 6, milton's init = 3]
Milton is overcome by a press of bodies, grabbing and pulling him down. [two attackers roll 20 and 18!, 3d6 for grapple (I rule the crit gives an extra d6) = 11, Milton is being grappled, he rolls a 16 for grapple to hit, 1d6 grapple check = 5, the two grapplers have bested him, he is held]
As Milton lies helpless, a mean looking brute kicks him in the head and Milton loses consciousness...
Other party actions?

Re: Chapter 3 --- Journey to Harkbone
As darkness overtakes him, Milton thinks, oops.
