Oberon draws his new sword and looks at his reflection in the polished steel blade, 'Tell me Vei-eldur, are these statues or those skeletons imbued with magic; are they able to move and fight? I am the vessel through which you will destroy the Ash Demon... So look after me. A bit.'

I messed up the description a bit, there are two exits from this room instead of one. The dog statues are on either side of the exit into #25.

Oberon only feels the pull northward in reply to his question, as before. He can see partially into the room beyond the statues (#25), there is a large stone chest, five feet long by two feet tall and just as wide, in the center of that room. Finnr can see partially into the room to the southeast (#26), it appears to contain broken sarcophagi like the last ransacked tomb you discovered. Still, there is no movement or sound.

Actions?

Oberon advances through the doorway and into a small chamber, empty save for the chest. The chest itself has three stone lids, all hinged, next to each other. The leftmost lid is engraved with a picture of a deer, the middle lid is engraved with the picture of a sun, and the right lid is engraved with a picture of a sword. A fist-sized, cut green gem sits on top of the "sun" lid.

Actions? Where is everyone else at this point?

Oberon tries to press down on the green gem as if it were a button of some kind...

If that doesn't produce a result of he lifts the Sword lid.

Dolgrim will follow Oberon into the chamber with the chest, eagerly looking over (or under, rather) his shoulder.

Fenwick enters cautiously, giving the chest wide berth.

I'll assume Guntram is watching the skeleton room. Grimma stands with Finnr.

Oberon presses the green gem and notes it is loose - as if placed on the center lid. He opens the sword lid to the right, underneath is an empty compartment. However, even as he peers in a loud crack is heard from behind you all. The two dog statues have animated! They growl and leap at Finnr and Grimma!

You can't be surprised since Finnr was watching the door, so initiative will be next. Actions?
