Back in Grimmsgate

Post by merias »

Night is just falling when the hill and Grimmsgate come into view. You climb the steep path up the side of the hill to the dilapidated guard house. The guard (whom you recognize from your first visit) opens his mouth to challenge you, then clearly recognizes you, his eyes wide.

"Ah, welcome back...you look a bit worse than when you left! You remember where the Silver Dagger is? I think you could use it..." the guard trails off, as if he is unsure of what to say.

Dolgrim sniffs the air: "If our memory fails to serve us we can always follow our nose..." He mutters as he starts making his way to the Silver Dagger.

Finnr will gladly follow. When at the Silver Dagger, he will order a large plate of the day's special, a tall tankard of ale, and then a warm bed wherein he shall sleep for as long as possible.

Dolgrim will sit with Finnr and place the same order, asking for the grouse in particular.

Guntram will secure provisions for 5 days. He will also wonder about the ashy demons and why such obvious evil is allowed to terrorize the land. After securing the rations, he will eat a quiet meal by himself and then pray. He is very troubled by the demons. Did the Goddess forsaken him?

Oberon fills a tankard and orders a plate. 'We should perhaps visit that holy man and tell him of our adventures. He may know something of these Ash Demons...'

Dolgrim takes a swig from his ale and wipes the foam from his scruffy beard with his sleeve: "You mean Rhall?" He asks, simultaneously passing a belch. "Sounds like plan. I guess we should also inform Stevin that we haven't met Strig at or near the ford... Well, not alive, anyway..."

Ralmar and Miralda welcome you back, and you soon have your fill of ale and spiced grouse. It is a welcome change from the rations you've been eating for the past week. Miralda asks about your journey, but is polite enough not to dig for details. The common room is mostly empty, you see a few men you surmise are farm hands, but your old friends Haggart and Brume are not present.

Sounds like you want to see Rhall tomorrow? Give yourselves 300xp each for escaping the temple (mostly) alive, and remember the loot thread - you each have a tidy sum of gold and two potions yet to be identified.

Fenwick agrees on visiting Rhall. He will investigate the potions now that he has time.
