Fenwick rejoins, Swords with wills of their own are powerful magic indeed. Be wary of the sword: your purposes align now but someday may not.
Perhaps we should make our way North but clear out rooms along the way. Leaving enemies behind us seems like a bad idea. Especially if we should need to flee.
Return to the Elder Temple
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
Dolgrim nods at Fenwick's musings: "A wise suggestion indeed, let's make sure we are not being followed." He then sneaks down the western hallway - Demon Bane and shield in hand - and peeks around the corner.
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
'I didn't touch a drop,' Oberon mumbles, 'My sword's definitely been on a bender though...'Wouter wrote:Dolgrim shakes his head at Oberon's ramblings: "Let's hold it together there, Northerner... Unless one consumes a considerable amount of strong dwarven mead, swords do not tend to talk. Nor do they have a will of their own..." He then turns to the others and pulls Demon Bane from his belt: "Nevertheless, killing the Ash Demon does sound like a good plan: 't is what we came here for after all! Shall we move northwards?"
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
Dolgrim sneaks down the west hallway, and looks into a small chamber (#23).
The walls, floor, and ceiling of this chamber are painted yellow, although the paint is now faded and old. The stone walls of the room contain twenty large niches, each of which contains a human-sized skeleton. A single archway exits the room to the south, on each side of the archway is the statue of a dog.
Through the southern exit is another room, but Dolgrim's vantage does not allow him to see much beyond a far wall and eastern exit.
Actions?

Re: Return to the Elder Temple
Dolgrim is somewhat hesitant to enter the room and reports back to the others. "Aye, that's right: human skeletons!" He shudders. "Do you think we can safely enter such a room? I have a funny feeling about it..."
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
Oberon grunts, 'Time to take the fight to them, let's go.'
Oberon shoulders his way two-paces into the room and quickly looks around for immediate threats. If it seems appropriate, he calls back to the party and describes what he sees.

Re: Return to the Elder Temple
((I'm assuming Oberon takes the lantern with him))
Oberon moves into the room and sees pretty much what Dolgrim described. None of the skeletons move from their alcoves, nor the dog statues on either side of the southern arch. All is quiet.

Re: Return to the Elder Temple
With his lantern illuminating the situation, Oberon takes a closer look at these "dog statues".
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
The pale, stone statues appear to be not dogs, but dog-like creatures with a scaled mane, about the size of a wolf.Mike wrote:With his lantern illuminating the situation, Oberon takes a closer look at these "dog statues".
Re: Return to the Elder Temple
Finnr looks into the room and then at Oberon, "Sometimes skeletons are just skeletons...but just in case, I hope Guntram is polishing up his holy symbol."
