You enter carefully. It is dark, and there is a faint smell of age and decay on the air. There is dust and dirt scattered about the entrance hall. The carving appears to be just that - a carving in the stone. It is a bearded man, not a Dwarf, and is no one any of you recognize. The stairs descend to your right and ascend to your left. Both stairs end in small landings and turn into corridors out of sight.

In my games, only Dwarves can see in the dark, and as he noted, apparently Dolgrim's night vision has been improved. However, it is ruined by being in close proximity to the lantern.

Dolgrim looks down at the dust and dirt...

Are there any signs of passing through, in any particular direction?

Dolgrim notices man-sized prints near the entrance, some of them shod and some barefoot. They fade as he goes farther in, so he can't tell which way, if any, those who made the prints have traveled.

Gerhard knocks an arrow to his borrowed longbow, "I'll tell you all about it when we get out of this rat hole...but fer now just picture this image...a big strappin' gal that makes Oberon look like a wain. She was a sight to behold...Gorda was her name...fearsome as a gorgon with the face to match. Last I'd heard, she was smitten with a local lord by the name o' Sir Kevin."

Oberon beams, 'Ah Gerhard, you'd love it in the Northlands, all the women are like that. With the important exception that they don't duck when you shoot. Now, which way?'

Gerhard says, "Let us rely on Dolgrim's nose!"

"Which way would you suggest, master dwarf?"

Dolgrim chuckles at the image of Gorda forming in his head, making sure he will remember asking Gerhard about her some more when this is over.

"Wel..." he says, "Grimma, could you maybe put down the shutter on the lantern for a moment? I expect to see more down both ways without the lantern light. From what I can see now, it doesn't really matter which way we go."

Dolgrim nods in agreement, "I suppose you're right, another entrance might be more promising."

You can see two other entrances, one a bit further up the hill (#2), and one at the top (#3), the latter is the one with the large doors.

Actions? Proceed here, or go to entrance #2 or #3?
