Freda nods and approaches the door, taking the moment to press an ear to the door.

Freda hears some muffled sounds coming from the other side of the door. Judging from the metre and melody, it sounds like a distressed conversation in the common tongue. She can't make out any specific words or how many are inside, though.

After whispering to the others as to what she heard, Freda then gives them a 'what do we do now?' look.

Van shrugs and whispers, "Open the door? I'm not waiting down here for 'em to leave."

Dahl motions to Freda to stand ready with her bow behind him as he tries to force the door open.

Dahl meticulously presses down on the door handle and with held breath he resolutely pulls... The door opens almost effortlessly, without a sound, and immediately an odor of burnt flesh penetrates the explorers' noses. Inside the 6 m by 9 m room, there are five adventurous looking men: a cleric-appearing figure seems to be praying over the still fuming body of a man that is down on the floor, near a door in the north wall bearing a glowing magical glyph. The other three, one holding a torch, observe the ordeal from a distance, quietly standing a few paces aside with a somewhat dazed look on their faces.

They are too preoccupied with this happening to notice that the door in the east wall was opened.

Memphisto will ready his sleep scroll just in case...and whispers to Dahl, "let's parlay with them...maybe they can be of some help?"

Lisglen steps in and addresses the standing men. "Hello there, glad to see people of some principles in these parts. May I ask what happened to your friend?" he asks, a bit naively.

With an arrow half-drawn, Freda lifts a singular eyebrow at the Cleric's question. The halfling wonders if she has made a mistake throwing her lot in with this band of adventurers. She bites back a snappy retort, keeping a wary eye on the other group.

Shield raised in his left hand, spear readied in this right, Dahl slowly eases his way into the room, along (back to) the east wall, allowing Lisglen to enter and parley.
