"The True Light be blessed!" says Lisglen after finding and studying the scroll. He will keep it with him to make sure it is put to good use when the time comes.

The passage from the book seems to be torn from some sort of libram of demonology, describing the Xul - the legendary creature mentioned by the cultists - as a chthonic being that can be summoned and bound by a magician of sufficient potency. There are some marginal notes in a hasty, unreadable handwriting and several sections are underlined or circled.

“FEAR NOT THE TIGER” seems to be a local, traditional children's tale. The moral to the poetic fable is that when in doubt one should always go with the tiger. The symbolic meaning to this story is not very clear...

The sword is clear of any markings or writings. Its design is nothing special: besides its blackened blade it looks just like any other sword. Nevertheless, Memphisto judges from the dark aura surrounding it that there is no doubt that some kind of magic is at hand.

After carefully knocking on all sides, Dahl concludes there are no hidden compartments in the wardrobe.

Freda fills her tobacco pouch with some of the pipeweed: "I'll be darned to leave behind such fine smokeables in a place like this..." She grins.

Memphisto gathers up the scroll and the notes on Xul and places them in his knapsack.

"If one of you would lend me your cloak, I will wrap this blade within. Then we shall research it when we return to the town..."

"Shall we rest here or attempt to get rid of the remaining nefarious creature outside of this room?" asks Lisglen once exploration is over.

Rest here a bit, if it will do our wounded any good. Otherwise, do we want to consider seeing where those stairs lead?

OOC: Do we need to rest? I thought we were in good shape.

FYI: it's around 2 p.m. and Albin in particular is in bad shape (down to 1 hp) due to falling down the pit trap. Even though Freda was scorched rather severely by the flames in the spider's nest she is bravely hanging in there (she's at 4 hp) and Lisglen is beaten but not quite broken (6 hp left). The rest is at full hp.

Resting here is certainly an option now the doors are secured, but keep in mind that only a proper rest (that is: a meal followed by an uninterrupted comfortable sleep) will restore 1 hp. Mind you that there are enough rations but only Van, Freda and Holger brought a bedroll, so you'll have to choose who to award this comfortable rest.

Aside from restoring hp, resting will of course allow Memphisto to study his spell book and Lisglen to pray to the Lord of the True Light for the divine gift of casting a spell.

So, will you rest or push on?

Lisglen will request to rest to be able to pray.

Van shrugs his shoulders and says"Yeah, we can rest. Somebody can use my bedroll."

Holger checks the spikes holding the doors in place and gives them a couple of extra taps to make sure they're tight and secure. "You can have my bedroll, little one." He says as he hands over his bedroll to Freda. All squat down and have some rations before getting a well-deserved sleep.

Everyone please cross off one piece of rations from your character sheet. Memphisto may study to memorize a level 1 magic-user spell of his choosing and Lisglen may pray for any level 1 cleric spell. I'm going to need a watch order, then we can continue.
