Memphisto will encourage Lisglen to cross over the pit and then will follow behind, very carefully.

Lisglen complies, and walks at a gentle pace on the wooden section.

Holding his breath, Lisglen carefully steps onto the wooden surface... He tiptoes across the 3 m wide board and sighs in relief as he feels solid, stone floor under his feet once more on the other side. Mephisto follows closely behind: he also shuffles across safely.

Albin is up next. The moment he moves onto the treacherous plank and shifts his weight, the wooden trap door suddenly collapses and the corridor goes dark as Albin - being the only one carrying a light source - falls down with a scream. A dull thud sounds as he hits the floor some 6 m below...

Staring down over the edge of the pit trap the party can see Albin shaking his head and scrambling to his feet, picking up his torch, obviously hurt pretty badly. He is in the center of a 9 m by 9 m room, standing amidst shattered human skeletons wearing the remnants of clothing and armor. A portcullis prevents entry and egress on the north wall.

Mechanics

Lisglen: step onto pit trap... 1d6 = 6 => SUCCESS

Memphisto: step onto pit trap... 1d6 = 4 => SUCCESS

Albin: step onto pit trap... 1d6 = 2 => FAIL for 2d6 = 6 falling damage
Memphisto hisses, "someone, get a rope down to him!"

He peers down into the pit, "Albin? Don't worry, we are sending a rope down..."

With a word that the True Light would surely disapprove, Lisglen scrambles to bring his rope out of his pack and throw one extremity to Albin, after which he tries to see where he could attach the other end.

Albin grabs the end of the rope and looks up with a hopeful expression. He firmly grips the rope with both hands - leaving his torch on the floor - and waits either for the rope to be secured so that he can climb up or to be pulled up.

“Let’s hoist him up,” Dahl mutters as he steps carefully along the stone ledge to join Lisglen to help pull Albin up.

Dah safely moves over the ledge and with the help of Memphisto and Lisglen he is able to pull Albin out of the cage. Albin looks frightened and hurt but he is relieved to be free and ready to move on.

And so the party stands in the cold, dark hallway on either side of the gaping hole, a soft, flickering glow - caused by the burning torch that remains among the shattered bones, weaponry and armor at the bottom - emerging from it, as if it were a cozy camp fire...

Lisglen puts his rope back to his pack, and says: "Alright, I believe I learned my lesson. Let's not be too adventurous in these treacherous parts!" He then falls in line in the usual walking order, and advances with caution.

Dahl lights a new torch and hands it off to Albin with a nod. “Let’s have a peek around the corner ahead.”
