Lisglen nods vividly in agreement at Van's word and move.

Thus ends the life of the dracoharpy. Van's battle axe strikes as hard as it strikes true, cleanly cleaving off the creature's head in one swift motion. Her body slumps to the floor as her last heart beats pump out gulps of blood from where her head used to be...

Meanwhile Memphisto secures the southern door, nailing it shut using six of his iron spikes. Just as he finishes up, the western door rumbles and shakes violently in its frame: from the vicious screeches on the other side the adventurers know that the other dracoharpy has returned to her lair. She is however unable to bust open the reinforced door and after a couple of minutes her screams die out and all becomes silent...

As noticed before, the dracoharpy's lair is almost cavern-like in appearance, the pitted and marked floor covered in shreds of rug. The rickety old wardrobe stands forlorn against the east wall. Furthermore, there is a broken, rotting desk on the south wall and on the west wall are two metal pegs. In the northwest corner, a stairway leads down into darkness...

Dahl will inspect the wardrobe, chucking under his breath as he has the fleeting thought of it opening into another world.

Memphisto will search the desk for anything interesting. When finished, he will examine the metal pegs. Who knows? Maybe they will activate a secret door?

Lisglen joins Dahl in his investigation, curious.

Van looks at the dead beast and mutters, "Better you than me . . . though your mad mate is still out there . . . great."

Van cleans his battle axe of the grime and gore while the others search.

Memphisto checks the drawers of the desk, but they contain nothing but dust and rubble. The pegs on the wall seem to be nothing more than two spots to hang your coat: they are immovable and seem to be secured tightly.

Inside the wardrobe, intermingled with a distressing litter of human bones, Dahl and Lisglen find:
  • A keg of halfling pipeweed, recognized by Freda to be a very fine blend indeed
  • A leather pouch containing eight gems
  • A black bladed, ominous-looking sword
  • A passage from a handwritten book
  • A scroll bearing the legend “FEAR NOT THE TIGER”
  • A scroll written in the formal language of Law, translated by Lisglen to reveal that it contains the cleric spell Raise Dead

Memphisto shies away from the black bladed sword, "Be careful with that, gentlemen. It may be cursed."

He will examine the book passage and also the scroll entitled, "Fear Not the Tiger"

Also, he wonders about the second dracoharpy. If it is not raising a ruckus at the door...he fears it is making for another entrance.

Dahl grabs the pouch with the gems. “Let’s split these up later,” he says to the others, as he spends some more time poking around the inside of the wardrobe checking for perhaps a secret compartment, and heeding Memphisto’s suggestion of avoiding the black-bladed sword.

Memphisto examines the sword without touching it. He will look for any writing or arcane markings.
