"I'll be just behind you Nilog, so no funny business" says Deccon with his sword and shield ready. "Gormlaith you want to stick by me up front this time? Let's pay this Gnish a visit."

Gormlaith nods with a grin and once at the door, it is discovered that the door is unloved yet stuck. Gormlaith offers to try and force it open, her sinews rippling as she takes on the ancient wooden obstruction.

Force Door [1d6-1] = 2-1 = 1

With a shuddering creak, the door opens! A short hallway leads up into a bigger room.

Image

The one called Gnish charges like a cornered rat, screaming with fatalistic rage as he attacks with a sword!

Initiative: Party [1d6] = 3 Enemy [1d6] = 6

Gnish goes first. The hobgoblin attacks...

Evens: Deccon Odds: Gormlaith [1d6] = 3

Gnish To Hit [1d20] = 12 Dam [1d6] = 6

The hobgoblin's blow cuts deep into the wild barbarian and Gormlaith grunts with pain.

"Die you bastard!" roars Deccon, swinging his sword at the crazed Hobgoblin.

To hit with longsword: [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15, damage with longsword: [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

Isn't Loren's bonus to hit +1? So he'd roll 1d20+1 to hit with his mace, right?

Loren rushes forward to shield the injured Gormlaith swinging his mace at the crazed Hobgoblin!

To hit with mace: [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7 doing [1d6] = 4 damage.

With Gormlaith reeling under the surprising cut, Deccon manages to get through the maniacal hobgoblin's defense and cuts off the top of its head with a heavy blow. Gnish falls to the floor with a thud, grey matter and blood splattering the stones ahead of his lifeless body.

Nilog suddenly dances with glee around the body, singling a phlegmy song in his tongue before growing enraged. With a sadistic grin on his face, the hunchbacked hobgoblin starts kicking Gnish, spouting off which surely must be curses. Calming down, he points a bony finger toward the table in the center of the room which is draped with a dirty tattered cloth. "Chest under table. Careful...needle in lock, deadly, poisoned. Key to open nailed to board underside of table."

With the enemy down, Loren turns quickly to Gormlaith and binds her wound, "You took quite a blow, but I'll get you fixed right up...as best I can anyway."

"That's a nasty wound indeed. Brother Loren let me help you with that binding."

"As you will." Loren says with a frown at the poor job he seems to have done, "Perhaps you can do a better job than I did."
