The Wanderer wrote:Well, here is the inside info.

I spent money on art for the Beginner's Guide and then decided that the art needed to be full color and in a different style to target younger, new players. But I had no money to pay for new art. However, I had already paid Michael for some art for Into the Unknown, which he hadn't started yet. So I told him to do art for the Beginner's Guide instead. I spent way more on the BG than I did for WB:FMAG and I'm going to release the Beginner's Guide for free.

I also (maybe crazily) decided to sell the WB:FMAG books at cost. As a result, I'm broke and have no money coming in! And I have to pay about $100 for print proofs for all the different versions of WB:FMAG I have out there to make sure the changes with the S&W compatibility logo are okay. Yeah, don't ever follow how I do things!

I was thinking I would sell off a bunch of my RPG stuff to pay for the Into the Unknown art, but I realize now, that wouldn't work, for many different reasons. So I'm left with only a couple choices. I either use what stock art I have and try to make a standard Into the Unknown book (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) OR I do the dreaded Kickstarter and try to raise funds for the art.

With either scenario, there is really no way I could pay someone to help with content.

So I'm kind of stuck right now on what I'm going to do after the Beginner's Guide is released.
Well, speaking for myself (but I'm sure that I'm not alone), I love the hobby so I'm always willing contribute. I'm not overflowing with free time, but I'd be more than happy to spend some of it helping out fellow hobbyists. If you need assistance with editing or anything, just give me a yell. Heck, I could even muster up some art if need be (though it may be a little "Greg Bell" ;)), or produce some maps.

All free of course. Free as in beer.

Perhaps there are far too....err...two, yeah that's right, only two...many rum & Coke's and an overdose of watching Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension has effected me negatively, but I seem to recall that foxroe is a person of some degree of some number of cool T&T stuffs/ideas at the TrollBridge forum. So, yeah...listen to him. He's makin' a lot of sense. :)

LOL! Thanks Mach Front, but I'm not sure I'm the person you're thinking of though - not registered there. I hang out at the ODD74 and K&K Alehouse boards. I have minor credits in S&W Core and BFRP, but that was just proofing work.

And I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express, once...

Well, crap. I coulda sworn. I know I 'know' you from ODD74 (and I'm assuming the old S&W forums...maybe the LL forums and DF as well?) but...are you SURE you weren't active at the TrollBridge? Please don't make me accept I'm at that stage of age and memory. lol
Weird. Well now I have to wonder exactly who it was I was thinking of! Ha ha! Ragnarok (Greg) maybe. I dunno. Leavemealone.

I was starting to get excited (though with a bit of trepidation) about the former former WB:FMAG's re-release but now I'm actually even more excited as to its affirming of its identify and the stomping of its big, fat foot upon the earth and extending it's already extant power.

Seriously, though...all the previous reviews and mentions and blogs and forum threads and whatnot concerning White Box Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game will still be a part of the game (and search results) as it goes forward and will reduce noise concerning a baffling name change and that's a very good thing.

I am registered at DF and GG(LL), but I rarely posted in those forums and I usually just go there to "lurk" once in a great while - DF in particular; there's good material there. I'm also a member of CotI, so, maybe there? Haven't posted there in a while though... got kind of tired of the Traveller "edition wars".

But just to be sure I didn't join Trollbridge in a drug-induced fugue at some point*, I did go over there and check. ;)

*(Not implying that one would only join there if they were under the influence of something, BTW  )

It wasn't baffling to me. It was to protect the version of the game going forward. I hope I'm making the right decision now. I guess we will see.

Oh, no. It wasn't baffling to me or any of us here or on G+ (and I get the whys), but it may have been to those on the outskirts of the close circle and any number of folks familiar with S&W:WB and some folks who were only just becoming aware of WB:FMAG.
After all, remember that even today there are still persons confused just by the three iterations of S&W itself.
That's sort of what I was getting at/commenting on. That's all.
