Lord Fynn hands the silver coins to Otis, "Take this. If you need gear, the armory can supply this at cost. I'll have the captain of the guard get what you require. When you uncover what is taking the fishermen and kill it, you will get the other silver in payment. I can have one of our naval patrol vessels take you out to reconnoiter."
"Captain, make it so."
Lord Fynn returns to his maps and discussion with his second-in-command.

The captain asks each of you if you require any gear. Some things may not be available, but most are.

Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
Re: Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
Here are the flags flying on the keep at Isprey.
The first is the flag of the crown. This is the flag of the kingdom of Eyre.
The second flag is the flag of the port town of Isprey and the navy of Eyre.

Fungo will see about getting some leather armor, a sabre (since we are going pirate hunting), and a dagger. He will also procure an eyepatch, just in case. He asks around for Greek fire or a ballista.
Perhaps we should buy rations and rope and stuff as a group, he suggests. That way we know we have what we need.

Re: Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
The captain of the guard laughs at the hobbit's request for ballista!
"If any siege weapons need firing, our patrol boat will see to that."
OOC--I will put a shopping list on the OOC thread with your current gold and what you have spent, okay?

Re: Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
Fungo puts on the leather armor. He finds that, although a big large, it seems surprisingly comfortable. It was like an old shoe, except he didn't wear it on his feet because he's a hobbit and doesn't wear shoes so he didn't even think of that idiom.
He takes off the leather cuirass and examines it. He discovers that this was his old leather armor, which he wore back when he had armor. He muses on the incident that lead to him being disarmed (and disarmored): he doesn't recall being a smart alec. He was just being himself... Regardless, he's amazed at it and hopes the guards don't confiscate and resell it to him again.
Seeing as the armor is a bit large for him now, he decides to have more third breakfasts. Or even second breakfasts. Heck, after that time in Faerieland, something other than iron rations.
For now, he uses the extra room to stuff his bedroll into.

Otis - Fighter
Aside from a nice backpack and some rations, Otis would like to check into getting a nice polearm, suitable for reaching out and touching someone with. And he'll ask among the guards about finding someone who can paint or otherwise fix his shield the way he wants it.

Re: Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
Otis finds a suitable polearm at the armory. It costs 3sp with the 50% discount.
Using his charm (and ambassador skills) he inquires with the captain of the guard.
The captain rolls his eyes, mutters something, and walks away. [Rolled a 4 for reaction, even with Otis +2, the captain wants nothing to do with his shield! ]
Undeterred, Otis asks the quartermaster who is happy to help with the painting. The quartermaster paints the shields for the armory and he enjoys a challenge. He tells Otis it will be ready in a day or two and will charge him 3 silver pieces. He gets the details from Otis on colors and design and sets to work.
@Otis, please add a polearm to your character sheet (damage will be 1d6+1 and you can use it to melee from the second rank!

Re: Chapter 9 ~ Odimus of Isprey
The church of St. Brendan's is situated on High Street above the waterfront. The building is larger than any church that Erwin had ever seen. His hometown of Rumpstone only had a small wooden chapel that a traveling friar would use.
This church was whitewashed with vaulted ceilings, large wooden beams, and tall stained-glass windows. The building was built by shipbuilders. Many lay people were in St. Brendan's as Erwin walked into the building. A short middle-aged man in priest's robes walks up to Erwin and studies him, "Yes, my son, what is it that you seek?"
