You head back to the couch room, open the double doors to the north, and proceed towards the ill-fated summoning room. The wide corridor is lit from above by a few glowing ceiling stones 20 feet overhead.

The summoning room a few of you are familiar with. It is lit magically like the corridor, and has the rune-engraved black circle on the floor and the alcove to the west. There are small piles of ash near the summoning circle, and burn marks scattered about the floor and on the walls. Twig, Suspos and Salty sense there was a great battle here.

In the alcove is a plain desk, with two drawers and a wooden chair. There is a quill with singed edges, ink and a few ashes on the desk.

To the north of the desk, on the alcove floor where it meets the west wall, is a narrow black strip with silver runes written on it.

Berthold glances at the desk, scowling at the ashes there.

Suspos, this is your area of expertise, I believe. Just be careful and don’t read the script on the summoning circle. That ended poorly last time.

Twig will open the desk drawers...very carefully!

The faces of both drawers are scorched, and the drawers are empty.

It doesn't look as if anything is different in here than Delve 3?
Schmidt takes a look around the room, checking for anything hidden in the walls, and feeling a hint of char taste at the back of his throat.

Berthold points to the north of the desk, on the alcove floor where it meets the west wall, is a narrow black strip with silver runes written on it. Do you know what this means, Supos? Seems perhaps a threshold for a door to me…

Schmidt doesn't see anything unusual about the walls, outside of the area Berthold mentioned next to the desk.

@jimbo might be missing some notifications. I'll PM him.

Sorry chaps, wasn't getting notifications

Of course Master Berthold Suspo oozes, bowing deep before casting read magic and checking out the runes.

Suspos finds he can now read the runes - which he now understands are a limited kind of knock spell that activate when read. The runes glow and an area of the west wall about 6' tall and 3' wide opens just above the floor.

The light from the summoning chamber ceiling illuminates a 10'x10' room beyond the secret door that appears empty. There is a roughly 3' x 3' section of floor that Suspos can see in the center of the room, it is black and shimmers, and reminds Suspos of the piece of fabric Berthold found hidden in the pillar of the couch room.

As Suspos is taking all this in, from the north, the door (d6=2) bursts open and you are (d6=1) surprised by four men who enter the room. Three are armored and one is robed, they are dressed as adventurers would be - perhaps three fighters and a mage? One has a battle axe, one a mace, and one a sword. The lead man speaks, hefting his axe.

"We'll take your belongings in a pile there," the man points to the floor next to him, "and no trouble, or you'll meet my axe head-off". He laughs at his own terrible pun.
