HDE and Experience Points

Post by The Wanderer »

I noticed the HDE and Experience points don't really match up with all the monsters.

For example: Wood Golem is HDE/XP 10/2,000 and Gorgon is HDE/XP 10/1,400.
So they both have an HDE of 10 but different XP values. There are examples of this all throughout the monster section.

Now it may be that was how it was designed. But it would just seem to make more sense that since the HDE is evaluating the overall threat, that the XP would match to the threat.

Here is my proposed fix to be applied to all monsters.

<1 = 10
1 = 15
2 = 30
3 = 60
4 = 120
5 = 240
6 = 400
7 = 600
8 = 800 (goes up 300 from here on)
9 = 1,100
10 = 1,400
11 = 1,700
12 = 2,000
13 = 2,300
14 = 2,600
15 = 2,900
16 = 3,200
17 = 3,500
18 = 3,800
19 = 4,100
20 = 4,400
21 = 4,700

Seems pretty logical.

Slightly OT:
I've also noticed that there is reference in some monster descriptions to monsters that aren't presented in the book. Example: Lemure demon description mentions "manes" and "wretches"...

Agree, seems like a good idea to sync HDE and XP.

Sweet, thanks for pointing this out. I'm circling it in red in my errata copy. I'll look into changing it for the next update.
