Dahl attempts to talk to the others but uncontrollably chants instead:
“Didn’t meant to look
into this nook
filled with yet more mosaics.
I can’t but sing—
such perspiring—
someone search for secret exits
or hidden loot!
a magic flute!
a dancing or flame-flaring sword!
If nothing’s here
tell me out there
on the other side of that east door!”
(to the tune “Carmina Burana”)
And with that Dahl makes for the door, hoping that leaving the room will give him back the ability to speak like normal.

Re: Chapter 5: Delving deeper
Van looks puzzled. He doesn't enter the room but asks, "Hey, what's going on?"
Re: Chapter 5: Delving deeper
Intrigued by what is happening, Lisglen decides not to linger too long into the room and gets close to the east wall exit.

Re: Chapter 5: Delving deeper
Lisglen and Dahl - who is now loudly singing an old drinking song - both safely make it to the east exit at which they find a 6 m long hallway ending at a door. Albin turns around to the others still standing in the corridor before the mosaics room, shrugs, and answers Van's question: "I don't know, they both started singing upon entering this room... I felt an urge to do so as well but it somehow didn't get a hold on me."
Re: Chapter 5: Delving deeper
Memphisto tries to navigate the room with his head down, avoiding the walls if possible.

Van shrugs and mumbles, I think I know a drinking song or two. Or perhaps a funeral dirge is more appropriate."
He follows Memphisto's lead.

Freda doesn't know why but she felt the need to sing. Tears came to her eyes, running down ruddy cheeks as she bawled out a drinking song common within the shire.
We’ll have a pint — a pint — a pint
We’ll have a pint of stout
And when we’ve drunk it bottom up,
we all will give a shout — Hurrah!
There’s many an inn dotting the shire
that serves a lovely brew
From Underhill to Briarwood they say
you’ll want a pint or two
The finest stout, or nut-brown ale,
the taste comes shining through–
and if you raise a glass to me,
I’ll drink a toast to you!
The Laughing Stoat, the Dragon Green,
the Vulgar Goat o’er in Olfree
Let’s make the rounds of Halfling towns
and have a pint or three
A half-a-pint is fine for lads
of less than thirty-three
but I will drink a full with you,
if you will drink with me!
A toast, a toast, to friend and host
a toast to bonny brew!
We’ll lift a glass to seasons past
and adventures yet to do
We’ll toast each lass that we have met
and some we wish we knew…
and then at last we’ll stagger home…
and tomorrow start anew!

Re: Chapter 5: Delving deeper
Van and Memphisto follow behind the singing halfling, keeping their eyes shielded off from the mosaics: this way they don't seem to be affected by them and all safely reach Lisglen, Albin, and a singing Dahl in the short hallway leading up to the door.
Holger and Finnur close the ranks in the same fashion, keeping their heads down and avoiding to look at the walls. They squint their eyes at at the bawling of Freda and Dahl, which echoes through the mosaics room and probably carries far into the dungeon...

Coming back to his usual senses, Lisglen turns to his companions, all signs of joy having disappeared from his face. He says: "I suggest we hush now, and try to check what is behind this door."

Dahl nods his head, hoping he can control himself and be quiet.
