S&W White Box History?
Does anyone know of a link to the history of the game or maybe have the information personally?
Like how did the game get created and when was it first published and then updated to the 2nd printing and so on? How did Brave Halfling get brought in?
I have bits and pieces that may be accurate but I'm just curious If anyone else that was there can give an accurate retelling.

Some genesis of White Box as distinct from Core in the top post here:
http://web.archive.org/web/200806150025 ... .com/blog/
Finarvyn started giving feedback on S&W right away:
http://odd74.proboards.com/thread/3744/ ... etro-clone
... and became responsible for White Box soon after:
http://odd74.proboards.com/thread/3737/ ... l-finarvyn
More later, probably...

Re: S&W White Box History?
Thanks Guy, that helped a lot.
This is what I have:
June 3, 2008: Matt Finch announces WB on forums and included link to player section only of WB draft.
June 13, 2008: Matt posts about WB and Core and it is suggested that someone else should take over WB.
June 14, 2008: The very next day, Marv is announced as the new head of the WB project.
January 22, 2009. The first printing is published by Mythmere Games.
January 1, 2010. The second printing is published by Brave Halfling.
Novermber 25, 2010. A third printing is published by Brave Halfling and on the same day; a third printing is published by Mythmere Games.
-Note: I think this was around the time when there was some conflict between Brave Halfling, Mythmere and Marv Breig; that caused Brave Halfling to drop WhiteBox and create Delving Deeper and Marv Breig left the game completely. Looking at the second and third printings, it looks like maybe the dust up was caused by the Byline and the Copyright?
And that is basically the end of it. Nothing has changed since November 25, 2010.

Re: S&W White Box History?
It's a pity the old forum is down. The 'Lets Resurrect Whitebox' thread by John Adams on the old forum seemed an important call to arms at the time. Eric Norred kept plugging away to get WB supported/improved long after most of the initial S&W fans had migrated to Labyrinth Lord (seen as a more stable platform and more accurate clone of Basic than S&W was of OD&D + GH).

archive.org has some of the old forum, but it's hit or miss when trying to drill down into a thread. This is the last capture they had listed:

Since we cant access the thread anymore, could you give a gist of what you remember about it? Was that before Jon (Brave Halfling) became a publisher of the 2nd printing?geordie racer wrote: The 'Lets Resurrect Whitebox' thread by John Adams on the old forum seemed an important call to arms at the time.

DAMN! I just looked through the White Box forum and there were so many threads that I wanted to read! Sucks, that this information is lost.merias wrote:archive.org has some of the old forum, but it's hit or miss when trying to drill down into a thread. This is the last capture they had listed:

I know! Are you still working with Matt on the logo thing? Or is that done? If I could get the database from him (maybe he had a backup at some point), I could probably restore a static archive and make it available online. The Wanderer wrote:DAMN! No, that is done. I had an artist design a new logo. Now I'm waiting on new cover art, new title logo and new layout. The new version is going to be awesome! Sorry, got distracted....merias wrote:Are you still working with Matt on the logo thing? Or is that done? I read somewhere on G+ that someone thought the site is coming back soon and that Matt is working on it.
