Re: WB: FMAG, make it closer to OD&D?
While I agree about the sidebars for house rules, I think the larger format of early WB helped this. Optional rules in digest format books look too much like a gistraction unless they're in an appendix (which I'm not too struck on). But as I said on G+, fixing the treasure rules would help the fight...

Untold Adventures: Deluxe Edition
James Spahn has released his Minimalist Fantasy Role-playing game Untold Adventures with extra options (backgrounds etc) as a deluxe edition. Based on White Box and stripped down to 2 classes, I prefer it to S&W Continual Light, but what do you guys think ?

Re: S&W Continual Light - what's not to like ?
I'm not a fan of the Perks system and the hodge-podge artwork makes it seem too generic rather than a solid coherent statement of intent. I prefer the early version of Core.

Re: What Should Come Next for White Box?
So you think we should use the actual OS map? No, just an 'inspired by' map. I like how the OS map forces you to cross at least 2 types of terrain when travelling settlement to settlement, also encourages player options 'do we traverse the mountains, use the pass or go round'. I'd prefer a smaller ...

Re: What Should Come Next for White Box?
I suppose having the entire map is the nostalgic draw but I'd be tempted to focus on a portion of it, a map of maybe 20 x 20ish hexes from the middle, from the edge of the marsh on the left to the desert on the right. That's about Blackmarsh size, allows a range of terrain and settlements and big en...

Does the OS map look legible at digest size ?

Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
Maybe it's that Iron Falcon is a better choice for an OD&D plus Greyhawk clone than Core. Also, Core begat some decent offshoot clones like Crypts & Things, just as WB did with Sabres & Witchery, Backswords & Bucklers etc that a Core fan may be led to. Light leads to Complete and range of adventures...

Re: White Box Rules Update/Re-design
Whitebox has always been the odd one out as it harked back to OD&D and promoted homebrew material and houserules - by disdaining WB and Core, S&W focusses on being it's own thing, rather than encouraging people to seek out the Oe itself, or write for Oe (the original reason for a clone). I stopped e...

Re: What Should Come Next for White Box?
Then I'd go with the Hexcrawl Sandbox as it's own book. You can always expand it via the zine.

S&W Continual Light - what's not to like ?
We'll see if we can get a public release of the Swords & Wizardry Continual Light Beta PDF in the next few weeks. There are various iterations of the SWCL rules currently in playtest as well as being used as reference by creators of SWL content. We want to lock down the rules before moving on to th...
