Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
Fungo and Bizenghast move through the forest towards the large earthen embankment of the ring fort. Approaching from the south, they spy 6 armed humanoids. Their features are goblin like but they are taller and heavier built. Each has leather armor, a bow, and a bronze tipped spear. They camp outsid...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
Now that the party has been to the ringfort, it is no great problem to find the place once again. Having a wood elf and a cleric of nature as your guides is an advantage. About a half day's travel and you find yourselves at the ringfort once again. Do you proceed through the north gate (the same you...

Re: Spell System Overhaul for OD&D / White Box
I agree with you. Very rarely have I been in a game where MUs choose a starting spell other than Sleep or Charm Person. As you said, Sleep is a nuke in the game for low levels. Having no saving throw makes it really effective. So, let us say all spells aren't equal. Good adventure writing can get sp...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
The group settles down, making camp and breaking out a bit of rations. The cares of the day fade as companions, old and new, sit in the warm glow of the fire. The morning comes. No sign of bandit or beast in the night, the party makes a quick breakfast and then breaks camp. Travelling through the da...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
Fungo also checks to see if the leather could be made to fit him Fungo takes a sniff of the stained leathers. He figures that they smell even worse than when the original owner had worn it. in fact, when Fungo gets closer to the dead men, he is sure that the cow must've smelled better! Fungo could ...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
As expected by the ragged conditions of these men, they are penniless. They do wear leather armor...not great, but serviceable...and Fungo also finds one dagger, a quarterstaff, and a oaken club. The Garwood Forest lies to the south about a day's travel. To the east lies Barlow County. The day is ne...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
The desperate men rush the lone warrior. The first tries to find an opening in her platemail for his dagger, but it slides off the steel plating. The second raises a quarterstaff but the warrior maiden is too quick for him! The third man swings wildly and catches Susanna a glancing blow along her he...

Re: Chapter 4 ~ Back to Beamish Hall
Once again the adventurers leave Beamish Hall. Erwin is restored in health and no longer suffers from the icy touch of the barrow wight. Everyone is re-equipped with the promise to return to Beamish Hall and regale the Knights of Nye with tales of their adventures. Erwin, a young cleric of the natur...
