Re: Stat Bonuses

Not sure how many people read these forums anymore, but I was curious as to how many of you use the stat bonuses RAW as opposed to just using the B/X standard or something else? We've always gone with B/X bonuses and we roll 4d6, drop the lowest, but we're thinking about going RAW for our upcoming c...

Who's in on the Upcoming KS?

So it looks like the KS for the new Mythmere edition will be launching in the next 10 days or so. Even better, James Spahn will be writing some kind of swamp-based into adventure. And Matt has said that he's likely going to do an "Unearthed Arcana" style supplement with extra classes and the like do...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

Here's our ranger tweak, somewhat cribbed from Hyperborea:  At character creation rangers choose if they want their level damage bonus against humanoids (Path of the Warden); animals, both mundane and giant, (Path of the Huntsman); or otherworldly horrors, including demons (Path of the Guardian) An...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

Regarding poison we do something similar. If it's save or die, it drop you to zero HP and you lose d3 per round until someone attends to you with a spell, anti-venom proficiency or whatever. Death occurs at your negative level in HP, which is one of their optional rules. So still pretty dangerous, b...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

Used both Chrome and Firefox and had those issues. So I'm thinking it's a MAC thing because my internet connection is usually pretty good.

Re: What are Your House Rules?

Everything that could go wrong, did when I tried VTT. We were using Roll20. It kept freezing, people getting cut off, couldn't see the screen, couldn't hear people. Super frustrating. Hours of gaming to explore like 4 rooms. Happened two weeks in a row, then I bowed out when most of the others didn'...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

I've tried play by post but every game flamed out pretty quickly. And I loathe VTT play, having tried that as well. So it's pretty much old fashioned, mask free face to face gaming for me.

Re: What are Your House Rules?

NOLA is about a two hour drive for me. I sometimes hit the game stores there and a few have gaming in the store though I've never participated. We have one semi-decent game store in Hattiesburg, but as might be expected, most of the games run there are war games, board games, or 5e. I may try to get...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

In my Whitebox campaign I explain clerics having no spells at first level as they being adept the cannot harness the power of the gods. So that the cleric-players don't pout, I explain that fighters and etc. also only do 1d6 across the board because of their inexperience at level one. Also when I r...

Re: What are Your House Rules?

Yeah, I was also bummed about the illusionist and the exclusion of gnomes since the gnome Illusionist/Thief is one of my favorite character types. In fact, when I first got into retroclones, I chose Labyrinth Lord over Swords & Wizardry because S&W lacked gnomes & illusionists. Finally, as you see, ...
