Yes Virginia, there was a BHP Third Print.

In communication w/ our Imperious Leader, merias it came to my attention how few may not, for whatever reason, realize there was indeed a very short-lived (and IMO nigh-perfect) Third Print of WB from Brave Halfling Publishing. I have the pdf, two hardbacks and a softcover of this print. After BHPs ...

Re: Poor Core?

Okay, maybe Core's competition then is BFRPG; both living in the "basic 4 classes, basic 4 races" space, but allowing class+race combinations. Yeah, I suppose that's closer. Though, I've never taken Core to disallow any race/class combos. Short, simple statements such as "dwarves can only be x or y...

Re: Poor Core?

Yeah, I can see the confusion when I compared it to B/X in my OP. It's certainly not just like B/X and if one wanted something very much like B/X I would point them to B/X itself or LL at least and not to S&W Core. However, if they wanted something similar but simpler or specified they didn't want r...

Re: Pre-greyhawk thief

What is the argument for adding the thief to the White Box game vs. switching up to Core? The sucks in Core too. ;) Actually, for me it would be that with Core one must take also all those extra spells, the variable HD and weapon damage and, worst of all, the monster multiple attacks/damage. Also, ...

Re: Pre-greyhawk thief

Yeah, I dig this. I was already considering using it, but I'd like my WB thief to be very...ermm..WhiteBox-y. That is to say: each WB class is so shortly presented, then the thief seems like this big, complex thing (in WB terms/vision). The perfect S&W:WB thief (note, different from a D&D thief), IM...

Re: A General Question

I would post here but it seems that merias posts here so I don't have to! lol :D Despite OD&D's undeniably inherent flavor, WB is just so much easier to reference, deal with, and house rule. For my part I wish the single save with class and/or race save mods had always been a part of D&D. It's not t...

Poor Core?

My fave flavor of S&W is WhiteBox. But I also dig Core. Despite official support Core seems to have been lost. WB was truly the one left languishing, but has of late (thankfully) received a good deal of quality third-party support. Heck, Barrel Rider Games' WB stuff were all top-sellers on RPGNow/Dr...

Re: Welcome!

Hello, everyone! Name's Eric. I see a lot of very familiar faces here as I figured I would. :) I was a member of the S&W forums from the start and I've really missed it. The Google+ community for S&W is great but it still doesn't replace a forum. Thank you, merias for creating this! EDIT - Aaaannnd ...
