Re: Alternative map for S&W Grimmsgate module

One suggestion - if I were to use this I would print it out, and in that case a plain white background is best. But that is just an issue if one wants to print it. Good point, I will definitely do it one day, when I redraw the maps. I will then add proper signs for doors (empty rectangles) and secr...

Alternative map for S&W Grimmsgate module

Thought I would share my work with the community. I love the Grimmsgate module by Matt Finch, with minor tweaks its a very good start for fresh players in Swords & Wizardry (or any other Old School game). One of the problems for me have been it’s dungeon map - it's layout is a nuisance for DM (how m...

Re: Alternative Weapon Damage

I still like to use bit more different dice in the game, so I have lately tested such version: Small, easily concealed weapons do 1d4 damage (mostly those doing 1d6-1 in whitebox). Most one-handed weapons (and staff) do 1d6 damage. Large, two-handed weapons do 1d8 damage (mostly those doing 1d6+1 in...

Re: My greyhawkish house rules SnW Whitebox

Ok, final update:
* added cover for the booklet (separate file if You want to print it at all and perhaps on stronger paper);
* last spelling errors corrected (hopefully);
* added version number to pages.

Enjoy :)

Re: My greyhawkish house rules SnW Whitebox

Tinkered with a thief a bit more (only M-U scrolls to read, added option Thievery for All). Corrected some small errors.

Re: My greyhawkish house rules SnW Whitebox

Thanks for the input. I made small corrections. Originally I tried to change the SnW:WB weapon descriptions at minimum (the flail seemed logical to diversify all the medium bludgeoning types a bit). The spear is now changed to 1d6/1d8*.

Added a small print to the end of Legal :)

My greyhawkish house rules SnW Whitebox

Hey. I thought for a while and finally decided to post my house rules here. I enjoy SnW Whitebox but as I like to play (with my kids) many old modules from TSR I own, I wanted to add some Greyhawkish extras. Not too much to change the base book, but a little to bring back thieves and variable damage...

Alternate rules for poisons

Hey. I never liked the save or die poison as it was in the old days. Just one roll and all is decided. No drama. I mean Yes - the poison has to be deadly but I always wanted the mechanic to be a bit different. So, thinking on 3rd edition I compiled something like that as my House Rule: Poison All po...

S&W Whitebox - what can PC do in one combat round?

Hey! Its been ages, since I played old school (1996 os so). So please help me remember - what can a PC (or NPC) do in one combat round? Since 3rd edition it has been quite simple for me - basically one move and one action. You can switch the action for second move. How was it played in old days? Onl...
