Re: The Wizard's Scroll Submission Thread
Just perused through the pre-release of the first issue. It came out great! I can imagine having a whole shoebox full of these mags for reference in the future; so much good stuff!

Re: Rappan Athuk with S&W
<bump> I anticipate a lot of character deaths, and that's fine, but it seems to me that rolling up characters constantly would be quite the drag the more complex the rule set, so I'm leaning towards running this with WB. But is character generation really that more tedious for newer players in Compl...

Welcome James, and well said!Shadow Demon wrote:I think fun and community should be the paramount concern although I love to discuss the whats and whys of a ruleset.
I'm a big Frog God Games fan (the S&W stuff ), so it'll be great to have a FGG alumni hanging out here who's brain I can pick once in a while.

Re: New Quickstart
No, you're right. Have to keep it simple. Sometimes I get carried away when dreaming about stuff. Short and useful with good art, should be the goal. So do we want to add a level 2, level up for each class? And just say, something like "congratulations, you have completed your first adventure! You ...

Re: New Quickstart
Pregens look good. Maybe indicate which "rule" is on place regarding the Elf (class-switching or multi-classed) - depends on how the quick-start deals with it I suppose. Must have missed this one, I think maybe the Elf should get treated like the B/X Elf for simplicity's sake. So both classes, all ...

Re: New Quickstart
I'm kind of thinking out loud here, so... I have commissioned art for the "Into the Unknown" book, I have slowly been working on. But What if I used the art for the new Quickstart? We could do it up nice and really be proud of it. And hopefully with making it look so good, it will spread far and wi...

Re: Playing Pure Fighters
What about something like an extra point of damage at 3,6,9,12, etc? That's reasonable I think, but maybe limit it to a "favored" weapon. There are rules for weapon specialization in Unearthed Arcana (1ed AD&D), and in OSRIC. ;) Edit: OSRIC link - http://www.lulu.com/shop/stewart-marshall/osric-a5-...

Re: Foreign language games or sub-forums?
English is my native language - the grammar and idiosyncrasies are so ingrained now that I find it difficult to pick up another language (I suppose immersion would help). I tried Latin, French, and German in school and never could get comfortable with any of them (I got close with French). A couple ...

Re: Getting started with S&W
Sure, you can find a snapshot of the resource tracking sheet I use in my Call of the Xul game right here . On the left I keep track of turns, time and wandering monster encounters, the middle part is about tracking XP and the part on the right is for keeping track of the party's resources. Dracohar...

Re: Getting started with S&W
Welcome to the Forum! I'll start by third-ing what was said already. ;) Some more advice: == S&W, as a reimagining/resurrection/clone/[insert descriptor here] of OD&D, can be off-putting to some folks due to the "quirky" nature of the rules (if looking through the lens of later editions). The key is...
