The Elder Temple
Re: The Elder Temple
Oberon nods, 'You are both right. Skull-breaker is the key to these chests but first let's follow that trail around the corner. If it leads to nought we can return and I'll crack this box.'
Re: The Elder Temple
Dolgrim agrees and presses on, leaving the chest be.
Re: The Elder Temple
The reddish smear on the floor continues into an empty room (37), it must have started or ended here, for it does not continue into the main hallway to your south.
From the main hallway, the corridor stretches out of lantern-sight to the west and east, although you recall to the east there was an open doorway leading into a room.

"Let's check out the room on the east." Says Dolgrim as he makes his way through the empty room, into the east-west hallway.
Re: The Elder Temple
'Hold on while I tap this chest...' Mumbles Oberon, oblivious to the potential danger.
Oberon plods back to the previous room and has half an idea. If possible, the chest is turned on it's side and Oberon uses a dagger to pry the boards from the (hopefully weaker) base of the chest.
If that doesn't work he grunts his displeasure and applies the tried-and-tested "Skull-Breaker" method.

Re: The Elder Temple
Oberon lifts the chest on its side - noting it must weigh about 60 pounds, and that there is a raised brass plate on the underside of the chest. Immediately a loud, siren-like shriek starts to emanate from inside the chest! It is so loud it echoes down the hallway outside the room!Mike wrote:'Hold on while I tap this chest...' Fenwick covers his ears! Stop that racket, he demands!
Re: The Elder Temple
Dolgrim hurries back to the room with the chest: "Be quiet! Put it back!"

Guntram, shocked by the loud noise, readies his weapon and says "I did not expect that . . . '
