Quickly sizing up these monstrosities, and seeing out of the corner of his eye that Van is moving in for the attack, Dahl thrusts his spear at the skull of one of the oversized skeletons.

In a reflex
Dahl thrusts his spear towards the chest of the ape skeleton that is lashing out at him. He manages to jam his weapon into the rib cage and he hears the sound of bones breaking just before he is deafened by a blow to head, dealt to him by one of the primate’s long, heavy limbs as it staggers back.
Holger leaps forward and swings his long sword at the back of the skull, shattering the vertebrae that connect it to the body and causing the skeleton to collapse into a pile of lifeless bones...
The remaining ape makes its way across the room towards the others standing close to the door. Two arrows, fired swiftly and almost unseen by
Freda from her short bow, stick from the eye sockets as the skeleton swings its arms around wildly, trying in vain to strike anything.
Van storms in to put the creature out of its misery but his bulky battle axe attack misses the furiously flailing undead beast...
Please declare your actions for the next combat round...

OOC - DM Wouter, I have a question about my last attack. Here's what the mechanics said:
Van: battle axe attack... 1d20 + 2 = 1 => MISS
Is that correct? Did I have some penalties that I was not aware of?
Thank you!

Ah, good catch! No penalties, it was in fact a natural 1! I decided to explicitly not add the bonus to illustrate that, but I can see how it turns out to be rather confusing instead. I will look for some other way to represent natural 1s and 20s.
In other news: I will be typing up the next round of combat, so expect an update soon

The remaining skeleton opens its jaws, the sharp teeth protruding menacingly, as it once more lashes out:
Lisglen manages to effectively dodge the attack and sweep his staff at the shinbones of the remains of the carnivorous ape, unfortunately unable to throw the monster off balance...
Memphisto bravely tries to get a jab at the ape with his staff, however - daunted by the creature's imposing posture - his frail attempt fails...
At the sight of the cleric and the magic-user being assaulted
Holger bellows a battle cry and runs towards the skeleton, his sword raised high above his head. The weapon arcs down and cuts through the collar bone and several ribs before cleaving the spine with a lethal force. The arms of the undead drop to its side and it collapses, never to rise again...
