Xyla was no academic, and had no desire to "work the farm" or build a traditional family. Who wants to be a wife and mother when they could swing a sword and gather riches? Sword swinging... that comes naturally. Being female, the town/city guard wasn't exactly an option; however, if her attempts at "being an adventurer" fail, then I guess she'll have to go kick some guard's ass so they let her on The Watch.
