On the outskirts of the village of Cawfield, Roger clucks at Horse. The beast moves along just as slowly as before.

A great forest is seen looming in the horizon to the northwest. The line of green lies like a great blanket over the grassland. The forest conceals hills and looks dark and brooding.

Sitting in the middle of the road are two strange figures. One is a scrawny youth of a girl. Her clothes look nothing like the garments of the local farmgirls. The other person is quite short and pudgy. At first it appears to be a young child, but the tufts of hair on a pair of oversized feet, tell another tale.

The two appear to be arguing about something. Perhaps, they are lost. More likely, they've been robbed for between them there doesn't seem to be two coppers to rub together.

Actions? Roll for initiative? (just kidding)

"Good day, fellows," the elf says to the strangers.

"My name is Moonglimmer Honeysuckle. My friends and I travel to the Forest of Nye. May we assist you in some way?"

From sitting on the ground, the Sorceress stands. Providing the customary bow of her people, she places her left hand over her heart and leans forward slightly. Still unsure of her current situation, "I am Bizenghast. I recently escaped the Harrids using the river. My clothes have hardly dried and I've no idea where I am."

We will use the term Harridans for any of the "special" folks in charge in the Harridlands.

Fungo does not bow, nor does he even rise. He picks at his craggy toenails and looks up at the newcomers through his bangs. I've been telling you, you're in the middle of the road, and that's where you'll find help.

Like these gentlemen. They look helpful.

Howdy, Moonshine Honeystickle. I'm Fungo and this here "sorceress" is... well she told you her name. I never bothered to memorize it myself. Bisinessghost or something. I dragged her out of the river over there and she's been asking me questions ever since. Like I'm some librarian or something.

I'm not sure what I need right now, other than more pipeweed and a stiff drink. Oh, and money to pay for it. Do you have a way of procuring money? If so, then perhaps it is I who can help you.
He punctuates the sentence with a pebble that he forcibly ejects from under his toenail, which flies across the road and into the grass there.

"Greetings, Fungo and Bizenghast. I am Erwin, Cleric of Silvanus. You both look like you could use some help. We were just about to head into the Forest of Nye over there to get started on Moonglimmer's bow," Erwin says.

"If you join us in our travels we will share our food and you can help us in our quest to track down a bandit."

Well met, Earwig. I'm not sure your god would help a poor sap like myself, but I'd be glad to join you on your mighty quest for a bow or a bandit, so long as I don't match the description of either, says Fungo.

He stands up, almost excited. Especially if you will share your food. It seems like days since I last ate.

What is this bow quest you are on? And why? Can you not buy one from a fletcher in town?

"After a nasty encounter with some wolves, I have decided to craft a special elfin bow for myself," Moonglimmer informs the hobbit. "My skill with such a weapon should help me better protect myself and my companions."

The Forest of Nye

A bumpy wagon ride through the countryside and three or four hours later the party nears the edge of a great forest. A thin line of woodsmoke can be seen to the southwest. Somewhere off to the north, the party can distinctly hear a huntsman's horn and the baying of hounds.

Great oaks and chestnuts tower over the party. Looking into the dim interior of the forest, they can see areas of dappled sunlight and other areas of dark shadow. A cool breeze pours from the forest. Birds are singing high above in the canopy. There is no road, but the undergrowth isn't as thick as you had expected. Regardless, the wagon would be difficult to navigate through the forest.

Actions?

OOC--We will assume that all members of the party have had time to meet and are agreed to travel together for now.

Fungo says, So, what do you need for this bow? And how can I help? I'm a good climber if you need a branch from up top. Probably will need an axe to get it for you though.
