The knight spurs Goliath onward. The old warhorse picks up speed as Sir Hedwig slashes at the flanks of the beast. His sword strikes true, cutting at the back leg of the towering creature!

A cheer erupts from the men and the knight shouts, "Spears at the ready! Charge!"

They rush forward to attack...the men-at-arms struggle to pierce the beast's hide, but the knight nicks the foreleg of the creature.

Actions for rest of PCs?
Sir Hedwig rolls a 16...a hit for 5 damage (4 + 1 for Str)
The men-at-arms all miss....
The knight hits with a 15...does a total of 2 damage

OOC: Does this creature look like it has some way to peel off armor and suck a body out of it? Based on the description of the armor, Moonglimmer is concerned something else may be responsible.

Moonglimmer can see that the creature in front of you has the head similar to a lion's and fangs suitable for biting. Strong though they are, they don't look capable of bending back plate armor like a can opener. The plate mail in the tree has been torn open and the hole was large enough for the body to be pulled free.

Fungo hides in the shadows of nearby bushes and observes.

Discerning that the dead knight was killed by something other than the attacking creature, Moonglimmer shouts, "Be wary! I think something else may lurk nearby!"

The elf keeps her distance from the melee and looks about for other dangers.

As the brave Sir Hedwig rides past, the creature lunges its long neck forward like a striking serpent. The lion headed creature bites Sir Hedwig on the back! [Hedwig takes 5 points of damage!] Barely staying in the saddle, the brave knight rides out of melee range.

The men-at-arms and their leader (another knight) use Sir Hedwig's charge as an opportunity to attack!

The knight swings wildly at the beast but to no avail. Two of the men-at-arms miss with their spears, but the third sticks the creature's torso! [3 points of damage].

Other men-at-arms are rallying nearby and are rallying to meet the creature.

The PCs have the iniative. Actions?
Creature roll...19 hitting Sir Hedwig. Damage = 5
Initiative...creature 3, PCs 6...PCs win initiative...
knight rolls...3...miss
men-at-arms...5....2....17...one hit for...3 damage

Erwin rushes forward as Hedwig rides past the beast - he hopes it is distracted by the knight and attempts to club it over the head with his staff.

Fungo tries to get in position to jump on the creature’s back.

Unless the Hobbit can jump 16' up, he'll have to try something else.
The creature's legs are 12' alone. Picture a giraffe with the head of a lion. The neck is much more flexible than a giraffe and can dart forward to snap at foes.
The coat is forest green with darker spots and the head is lion maned with dark green hair.

If Fungo cilmbs a tree, he could mount said beast in the next round, if it is close enough.
