Jory was nominated to adventure on the surface lands by his fellow guild dwarves. He received high praise and was given a copper medallion of attendance by the dwarven miner's guild. The guildmaster said to Jory, "You've got to go...yes....go and see how the other folk are doing and don't come back...er..I mean, don't look back!"
Jory packed his rucksack and set off for adventure in the human lands. The miners were relieved and promptly went back to work.
Jory is an expert on most things, even the things he hasn't thought about before. He is headstrong and acts first before considering the consequences. ***Disclaimer~this is in no way how the player tends to act. It will be a great stretch to play a character like this.***
I'll be working on my next character shortly.

CLASS: Fighter
LEVEL: 1
RACE/GENDER: Human Male
ALIGNMENT: N
AGE: 30
STR: 15 (+1/3-6 open doors)
INT: 9
WIS: 12
DEX: 11
CON: 10
CHR: 9
HP: 7

SAVING THROW: Death:12 Wands:13 Poison:14 Breath:15 Spells:16
Special Abilities, Modifiers:

WEAPONS: Battle axe, dagger, short sword
ARMOR: chainmail shirt
WEALTH: 34GP, 5SP
Background: Bill has been a woodcutter all his adult life. He's strong, can make an axe sing in his hands, and can fell as many trees in a day as 2-3 men. He's soft spoken and fond of a stiff drink at the end of the day (or during, if the mood hits him.) And while he is quiet and thoughtful, his solutions usually involve brute force in response to a problem. Bill was content to live his days as a woodsman until he was nearly killed by a fallen tree, and while recovering he had the epiphany that he could earn a living doing something less dangerous - adventuring. So he sold all his possessions except for what he could carry, bought a shiny new shirt of mail, and traded his woodcutters axe for a battle axe and is ready to seek his fortune.

BACKGROUND:
“Let’s visit the humans!” my mates said.
“It’ll be fun!” they said.
“We can find gold and gems and magic!” they said.
And it’s been just ducky since then.
First, we got mugged by some bandits. We only got away because they didn’t expect us to have magic. Idiots.
Then, we got lynched by a bunch of religious zealots who said we were witches. Like any decent elf would ever worship a demon. Crazy bigots tried to burn me at the stake!
After all that, my mates all get hired away by some whackadoodle wizard who needed a band of loyal meat-puppets to provide muscle support. But not me. Oh no, I was too dainty for his highness. So, those bloody wankers dumped me!
Now here I am, by myself, with dwindling coins, little equipment, and no mates for backup.
What’s an elf to do in such dire straits? Grab my sword, my sling, and my spellbook, and find some trouble. Preferably profitable trouble.
And maybe some more reliable mates.

BACKGROUND: Dohram is an unremarkable cleric, everyone says so. He's no great looker, and rather sickly. He seems always to have a cough. He is a follower of Saint Carmichael, patron of the infirm. His parents gave him to the church, not because he was the oldest or the best, but it seemed better than trussing him in a burlap sack and tossing him in the river. At least he was born with a tonsure. He spent some time in the seminary but was ejected to "spread the word" early because no one could stand looking at him.
He may not last long...
