Miles turns to Alphonse, "Did your master tell you about this gatehouse?"

While his new companions are discussing, Roikos looks at the surrounding area attempting to look beyond the obvious debris. His eyes scour the landscape for foot prints, or - more importantly - foot traffic and activity.

Roikos clearly sees foot traffic going up and down the central path and both sidepaths to the towers, with many more footprints going to the East Tower than the Wizard's Tower. You also (with your 16 Wisdom & 8 Intelligence) see small footprints going to the East Tower as well.

Not being the sharpest tool...

Roikos points out his discoveries to his companions.

Miles turns to Alphonse, "Did your master tell you about this gatehouse?"
Alphonse shakes his head. "No. All that was in his notes was about a secret entry leading down, but it's not here." Alphonse says "maybe before we go barging in we could find a spot to hide and observe this place. See who comes and goes, and if they have a schedule. It'd be nice to know something about who's in here."

While standing on the path, the three adventurers see a figure in dark colors mount the hill on the other side on the ruined gatehouse. All four of you see one another.

Alphonse recognizes Jahan, a neighborhood kid of about his age. Jahan likewise recognizes Alphonse, having worked the occasional odd job (and shady errand) for the recently deceased Merrick the Sage (Alphonse's tutor).

Jahan also recognizes the Cleric he has seen recently in Portside, and surmises the bowman must be the man he is looking for.

OOC: okay, roleplay away.

And keep in mind, you are standing in what is essentially the middle on an empty lot.

"Who's this now?" says Miles.

"I'd be willing to wait and scout out the area, but if that wizards got the boy, time is of the essence."

"Why don't we see what this fellow is doing and then Alphonse can go up and ask the wizard if he needs an apprentice?" ;)

As Jahan approaches the group he lowers his cowl to better reveal his face and show no bad intent. The group seems a young man with long brown hair, brown eyes, average height and weight. He is clothed in a dark peasant-class hooded cloak which covers leather armor. On his belt he has several daggers and over his shoulder he has a small backpack and a crossbow.

"Hello Alphonse", says Jahan. "My name is Jahan', he says as he nods to the others. "Fear is starting to take hold of the Old City. My street contacts assure me that no one knows anything about the increasing citizen disappearances. At any rate, I tracked you here."

Just to clarify, Jahan walked up the path between the two ruined towers to approach the group.

Nothing fell on him. No troll popped out to say HI. He didn't fall in any pits, or get FIREBALLed, or slimed.

At worst, he got a stone in his boot.
