Crom, who missed an email notification, evidentally, searches the alcove opposite Fauk. He'll then advance, keeping a few steps behind the Slip, sword drawn.

Bert - Priest

Bert glances about, his mind wandering, filled with thoughts of steaming plates of roasted chicken and frosty mugs of ale. He mutters "some tasty chicken would brighten up this spelunking trip, wouldn't it, lads? heh heh heh..."

Bert keeps watch to our rear as the others search.

Slip slips ahead of the others. In the dim torchlight, she sees that the walls on either side are covered in huge frescos, the plaster cracked and chipped in places. In the dim torchlight behind her, it's difficult to know exactly what is on them but they appear to be two scenes. The scene on the east wall depicts a mage engaged in battle: many buildings and creatures in flames with the magic-user casting spells. The opposing wall shows a fighting man in armor defeating a huge winged lizard.

At the end of the twenty feet are two more alcoves. She can't tell but it appears that there is even less in these two.

Fauk looks at the mirror and is startled by the hideous beast within. He then realizes that it is himself he sees, although the dents and scratches make his forehead seem larger than the rest of his head and his eyes multitudinous. At least, he hopes it's the dents and scratches doing that.

Crom (or is it Tor?) searches the other alcove. He finds twice as much nada as he expected.

Bert's belly rumbles like the roar of a frescoed dragon.

Fauk, disturbed by the unsettling visage in the mirror, stows it away and pads after the thief.
As he follows the catlike form of Slip, he wonders how soon before he can kick down another door.

Finding nothing in the alcoves, the Scout attempts to move silent and hide in shadows as she moves further (North?) in beyond the recent alcoves.

Bert - Priest

Bert keeps guard at the rear, admiring the craftsmanship of the murals. He mutters quietly "I wouldn't have wanted to cross these two fellows, for sure."

Bert will just keep an eye out as the others advance.

Slip advances finding sneaking easy as she slips into darkness at the edge of the torchlight of her companions. She sees two more alcoves ahead...

Fauk follows the thief, advancing just behind her. Tor follows as well.

Bert watches behind, the torch in his hand flickering.

The party passes into the area of the third set of alcoves and suddenly two mouths appear on the walls of the alcoves...

Image

The east mouth speaks first, in a booming voice: "WHO DARES ENTER THIS PLACE AND INTRUDE UPON THE SANCTUARY OF ITS INHABITANTS?"

After but a moment, and drowning out any attempted reply by the party, comes the reply from the west mouth: "ONLY A GROUP OF FOOLHARDY EXPLORERS DOOMED TO CERTAIN DEATH!"

Then both mouths shout in unison, "WOE TO ANY WHO PASS THIS PLACE: THE WRATH OF ZELLIGAR AND ROGAHN WILL BE UPON THEM!"

The mouths then begin a loud and raucous laughter, which fades in intensity as the twin mouths disappear from view.

Slip nearly jumps out of her skin! "What the blazes?!" Unsure of what she just witnessed, Slip looks at her companions to see if they're okay.

Fauk looks at the walls suspiciously, "I don't like these wizard tricks! Show yourself and we'll see who is laughing last..."

Bert - Priest

At the appearance of the mouth and booming voice, Bert jumps and says “MY WORD!” He clutches his chest and says “Thats a good way to have a heart attack. I’ve had about enough of that noise, and anyone within a mile of here must have heard that ruckus, so be careful.”

Bert grumbles about suspicious sorcery and continues to watch and listen for any approaching beings.
