Tor shudders. Basque! Ugh! My basque tutor failed me. That's why I became a warrior instead of a scholar.

The fighter breaks out of his traumatic reminiscence after a moment. Slip, do you hear anything behind that door?

Slip listens at the door. She hears a rustling sound from within.

As she stands, she notices with her roguish eyes attuned to traps, that the sign on the door covers another sign beneath it.

Actions?

Slip attempts to disarm the trap(s) if they exist, otherwise she tries to quietly pry the current sign to see what the one beneath says, if she can read it.

Slip lifts the sign (which is made with some sort of parchment) and sees, underneath it, a sign in common.

It reads. Stairs not an exit

No traps are evident.

She looks to her group and whispers, "There may be stairs behind this door, up or down, I don't know, but there's also a rustling sound as well."

Fauk pulls the sign off the door and puts it in his pocket. "If we ever see those @#$% gnomes again, they'll translate this for us."

"Slip, you heard rustlin' behind the door? I doubt it. How they gonna fit a bunch of cattle in these tiny dungeon rooms?"

Tor snorts with derision at the deception of the sign. If no one stops him, he'll attempt to open the door.

Slip 'slips' out of the way and let's Tor to the door. She attempts to hide in shadows in case the 'rustling' turns into an adversary!

Tor opens the door, which squeaks on its hinges but otherwise opens easily.

The room is long and narrow with stairs leading down at the far end.

There is also a large “nest” of scrap wood, dust, and scraps of paper. Eyes glow back at you from borrows light from Trebbelos’ torch. (D6+1=7) Seven giant rats are (surprise party 3 no, rats 6 no) ready and waiting.

The lead rat hisses.
