Bonner, realising bigger brains than his are needed to secure the loot, draws his club.

just going to check no more dragons heard the scrap

He heads back down the passage to where it joins the chamber.

Berthold will request a second rope. If he gets it, he will tie the two together for 100’ of line. Then he will tie one end to his crowbar and toss it over.
I see three ropes in the party, so this is doable. It takes a while, but Berthold is able to finally get the rope over the stone rafter, in between the dead Goblin and the chest.

The entrance door by this time has closed on its own. Do you open it and stand in the doorway, or just stay near the closed door, inside the room?

Yikes, just checking, all of us have moved into the room at this point?
If so then Schmidt will help in opening the door, not trusting that it happened by chance.

Actually even if he's still outside the room, he will help in opening the door ;)

Yes, I had everyone as in the room - Schmidt was the last one outside and I assumed he went in after combat to assist with the wound binding. But we can put Schmidt outside the room if you meant him to stay there, let me know.

Nope, just making sure he wasn't alone in the dark hallway. I'm good being in the room surrounded by HPs :)

Bonner, ignoring the spooky door for a minute, grabs the end of the rope with the crowbar. He gets a good grip and holds it tight.

Who's going up to liberate that sweet, buttery gold?

Hold on tight, says Berthod as he ascends the other side of the rope.

If he makes it to the top in one piece, he will search the body and then gather up the rope to tie the chest to. He will also look around, asking others to shine the lantern this way, to see if anything else is hidden up here.

Berthod thinks he could probably scamper up the rope easily unencumbered, still he is quite strong (STR of 15) so we'll just do a STR check modified by his bonus for him to make it up the rope in armor and gear: d20-1 = 4 success.

Berthod easily makes it up the rope and onto the stone rafter, which is about 2' wide and extends across the room, corner to corner. Above him about 5' at its peak is the domed ceiling. He is in-between the dead Goblin and chest, and in the north-east corner (at the end of the rafter) he sees a large crack in the ceiling that seems to expose an open space beyond. The goblin looks the same as the others (apart from the spear stuck in his side), he has a bow and 4 arrows, and 12sp in a belt pouch.
