Salty ties his rope around his waist, throws the free end to Berthold, and grabs a torch.

Hold that, Tholdy, and it needs more pressure, whack it between your thighs

Snickering like a deranged monkey, Salty skitters away down the hole.

Berthold holds the rope. He gives it a test yank when Salty is halfway down the ladder. You know, just to make sure it’s secure

Salty lights a new torch and scrambles down the ladder, dropping the last few feet to a cavern floor. The air is moist and he can hear running water off to his west, where the cavern floor descends slightly. To his east, the floor rises. The cavern narrows in both directions, and there is a large stalagmite to his north.

Here is what his torch can illuminate - the circle is the hole and ladder above.

Salty scampers halfway back up the ladder, tells his companions what he's seen then climbs back down and carefully gives the stalagmite a visual inspection

Salty sees nothing unusual about the stalagmite.

Salty flips a coin. If it's heads he goes east and up. Tails sends him west & down.

He'll only go a few yards as he's just having a look-see before his chunky chums waddle off the ladder.

Salty randomly heads west a bit, and can see a broken door to the south, partially on its hinges and mostly rotted. He also hears the sound of a stream beyond the door.

Can I assume everyone is heading down the ladder? Or something else?

Rory said we shouldn’t venture to the second level as we weren’t ready for that yet. I concur but my character is more rebellious so he will vote…

Sounds like Salty has found something of interest. Let’s head down and loot that area as well. Then it’s really drinks all around! asserts Berthold.
