Curious!
Kane follows the footprints, stopping where they do and searching for anything hidden nearby such as a stash or a secret door. (Inspecting the dust for any telltale signs of disturbance).

Re: Chapter 1: We're off to see the wizard
Theo stands in the doorway behind the monk and says quietly "Be careful." Kane proceeds down the short hall, stopping where the footprints do, well short of the end of the corridor. He looks up, down and at the walls and sees nothing. His search turns up nothing either. He cautiously walks past the where the footprints stop, and finds the end of the hallway as described - rough hewn, like it was not completed. The walls on the sides are relatively smooth till they reach within about a foot of the dead end.
Kane searches and almost gives up, but as he's getting ready to return to the others, his nimble fingers feel a slight anomaly in the surface of the stone toward the floor almost in the middle of the wall. It's an indent about 4-5 inches wide, just deep enough to slide your fingers into and get an upward grip. As he explores the grip, his keen sight finds an almost invisible crack that runs along the bottom of the wall. Following the crack, he traces it up, over, and down and sees that it is in the shape of a portal. A secret door.
Theo whispers "Master Kane, have you found something?"

Kane simply nods in reply to Theo as he attempts to open the door.

Re: Chapter 1: We're off to see the wizard
Kane is surprised when the door swings open, almost effortlessly. Within a moment of the door opening, the room is magically bathed in a dim light from four glowing orbs spaced on the ceiling.
The room is L shaped, and to the left of the doorway is a bookshelf that stretches across the wall, and there are two large tables that have alchemical glass beakers and vials on them, along with several jars containing what look like spices or possibly ingredients of some sort. A small ironbound chest sits to the right of the secret door opening, and a vial of a clear faintly glowing liquid sits on the edge of the farthest table.
Most notable about the room - The ceiling is partially collapsed (the dotted area is the debris field) and the pile of crumbly clay is about 4-5 ft tall, cutting the room in half. You can see across the pile, and a closed door is on the far wall. There's enough room to crouch and cross the debris pile to the other side.
The room is coated in a thick layer of undisturbed dust, and cobwebs are plentiful in the corners and crannies. This room appears to have been undisturbed for a very long time.

Kane ignores the various paraphernalia, instead he clambers over the pile of rubble and investigates the other door.

Albrecht examines the contents of the bookshelf, as well as the beakers and vials. If time allows, he'll also inspect the treasure chest.

Zapolas casts detect magic and a few things glow around the room: The orbs on the ceiling (obviously... the vial of clear liquid, the chest (or rather the seams emit a glow, as does the lock) and one of the stoppered small beakers.
Albrecht grabs a scrap of cloth from one of the tables and uses it to brush the dust from the spines of the many books on the shelf. Most of the books appear to be sorted into categories. Herbs, spices and homeopathic uses; astronomy and the planes, and an intermingled section on Necromancy and healing & raising dead - from both a clerical and magical perspective. Most of the tomes are very deep sounding, not light reading.
Kane clambers over the dirt pile and heads to the door. It is closed, and it has a place on the inside to secure a bar across the opening, but you don't see a bar anywhere. Kane gives it a tug, but it doesn't budge.
Theo carefully picks through the contents of the benches, picking up the clear vial and holding it up to the light. He squints at it and hands it to Zapolas and says "What do you make of this concoction?" Theo also gathers up a bunch of dusty papers on the tables, they are filled with tons of messy handwriting, and notes, and Theo says it all sounds like gibberish to him.

Zapolas

Zapolas points out the glowy-bits to everyone, but turns to Kipper, "Well... you're the closest thing we have to a Scout (Thief), so... there's that lock for ya." he says with a sheepish grin.
Zapolas takes the clear liquid Theo hands to him, unstops it, and takes a distant whiff, to see if it has a distinct odor.
