Zapolas agrees nodding eagerly, "Yes... yes! I like closed doors!! Very closed... very locked... very secure doors."

Deciding to put the door between your party and scratching noises coming from behind the kitchen wall, you close the door behind you. It shuts with a groan and a click, and you don't hear anything else.

You go back to the right hallway to the closed door midway down the hall. As you get closer, you see it has sustained some serious damage, it looks like a blunt weapon or maybe a large tool has bashed it open. The door is still in one piece, but it is very splintered and just being held together by iron bands and good construction. Despite the damage, the door opens easily, the hinges squeaking softly. The door opens to a 20ft hallway leading north, opening up into a octagonal shaped room. At the center of the room is a pedestal with some rubble on it (maybe an old statue?) and the room has piles of debris in it. Broken furniture, crates, ripped sacks, broken glass from what looks like alchemical containers, mixed with household pottery and dishware. Judging from the dust you've seen on some of the things in this place, there looks to be a combination of old and more recent damage here.
There is a lot of debris here, but it's dry and looks basically clean, if there is any consolation in that. Probably a 30-45 minute task to search the room well. Or a more cursory search in about 15 min.

Three doors are in this room, one on each wall. Each door is closed, and they appear undamaged and with no locks.

"Maybe we can listen at those doors in there and - if safe - search through that debris? It looks interesting."

"'Interesting' isn't the word I'd choose," Kane replies to Zapolas, "but don't let me stop you."

"Odd though that whatever broke into this room didn't try to break down any of these other doors too." He listens carefully at each door in turn, starting on his left and working clockwise.

Theo joins Zapolas (and unless he says otherwise, Albrecht joins as well) in searching through the debris carefully, while Kane heads to each closed door to listen.

Kane hears nothing at any of the doors, and all seem to be unlocked/have no locking mechanisms.

Most of the debris appears to have been purposefully broken (some of the crocks and wooden articles are too sturdy to be casually broken. aside from broken pieces of small furniture, crates, sacks, etc. you do locate the following intact items:

numerous leather scroll cases, all empty. They are of good quality, and plenty are scattered throughout the mess.
3 heavy earthenware crocks with stoppers. They seem to be for food usage, but are currently long empty.
2 bottles of wine, old, but don't seem to be exceptionally valuable. They look drinkable though.
10 Silver pieces, 2 Gold pieces
a normal dagger, it is located in the folds of a sack, likely overlooked. It is old, but with a light cleaning would be perfectly serviceable.

There are literally thousands of ripped pieces of paper and pages from books, nearly all the documents have very nice handwriting, and after sifting through the mess, you'd assume it's from the hand of the former female wizard owner of the tower.

The pedestal in the middle of the room has a bunch of stone fragments on it, you can't determine what it was, as it's been bashed senselessly, but it seems to be a humanoid figure, maybe in a robe. You'd assume the statue was once maybe 3-4 feet tall, but there is nothing to identify it, just pieces.

You have doors to the East, West and north. All closed. And the door to the south that you came in from.

Zapolas puts the several good quality scroll cases in his backpack, and asks the group if he could take the dagger.

Albrecht holds his hand up dismissively at the sight of the dagger. It's all yours, he'll say to Zapolas. I am forbidden from using such a weapon.

The cleric puts one of the bottles of wine in his pack, then holds out the other one to Kane with a wink.

Once the wine has been settled, he'll briefly examine some of the writing from the tattered pages to see if anything jumps out at him.

Kane cracks open the eastern door and peeks through.

OOC: Zapolas is welcome to the dagger.

Albrecht waits behind Kane to see what is revealed when he opens the eastern door.

Kane cracks the eastern door open to reveal a dark but short hallway - it goes about 10-15 feet east and ends in a dead end, roughly hewn with pick axe marks and chisel indentations. There is a thick dust in this hall, and a single set of footprints about halfway down the hall, then returning to the door you just opened.
