Kane jostles the barrels to see if they seem full. He won't bother trying to open them or move them though. (OOC: Are they small enough for one person to carry?)

After that, he follows Theo down the passage to the T-intersection and looks both ways.

Albrecht will grab the barrel of oil if it's not too heavy.

(sorry for the delay!)

The barrels of oil are small and weigh probably about 50 pounds. Not too heavy, but a bit bulky. You could carry them awkwardly, and set them down if needed.

Proceeding carefully to the T intersection, the hallway leads left or right. To the left, the hallway extends 30 feet to an ajar door. You notice some cracks in the walls and some chunks of earth, clay and pebbles on the floor. The structure looks stable, but there is obviously some damage. To the right the hallway stretches about 70 feet where it ends in a closed door. There is also a single door about halfway down the hallway, it is closed. As you survey the layout, you notice that both hallways seem to be lit magically, with sconces placed about 20 ft apart that emanate a dim glow.

You hear nothing, but you still feel the faint movement of air and don't notice stale underground air.

Kane thinks we should first check out the door which is ajar. He motions the others to wait, and silently slips down the passage and peers around the door.

Zapolas

Zapolas hangs back as instructed, but agrees maybe the open door is a good place to start.

You make your way down the left hallway, stepping over the little bits of debris and fallen dirt/clay from the walls and ceiling. It doesn't look unsafe or unstable, but this side of the complex looks damaged by something. You reach the ajar door, and while it's not open enough to move through (unless you are a halfling-sized person) you see a large room, about 30x50, at the far end is a utilitarian kitchen, and closer to you are some tables and chairs, some are knocked over, but for the most part the room looks fairly untouched. The table closest to the kitchen is set with some dishes and cutlery.

Near the kitchen several large tree roots are coming through the ceiling, and very large chunks of dirt, stone and clay are scattered across the floor. Most of the tables and surfaces of the room have a thin layer of dirt/dust on them, and occasional clods of dirt. There are some large horizontal cracks across the ceiling, but again - none look unsafe or unstable. there are two doors at the far end of the room on opposite walls, one door on the far wall is ajar, the other is closed.

From behind the large kitchen half wall, you can make out some scratching noises. Barely audible, but it sounds like a scratching or crunching noise. It almost sounds like a dog or animal scratching at a door or the ground.

This room is also magically lit, with 6 sconces evenly spaced through the room. It's not bright, but it's enough light to make most of the room easily visible with little shadows.

Zapolas whispers, "What do you suppose is making that scratching noise? I sure hope it's a kitty-cat, or something... nice."

"More than likely it's looking for food. Hopefully it's too small to consider us 'food'", Kane replies to Zapolas. "Still maybe we'd better leave it alone for now."

Kane is in favour of shutting this door on whatever is inside and investigating the eastern hallway instead, starting with the first door (halfway down the hallway)

Albrecht agrees with Kane, and waits for the monk to lead the way down the eastern hallway.
