Salty would have had to get his backpack off pretty quickly to remove his armor - so I think it's reasonable that the backpack was, more likely than not, thrown to the floor nearby and either slimed/dissolved or burned in the fire. Say 1 in 6 for it to be intact - d6=4, so no, the backpack is toast.

Salty runs back to the party, stripping as he goes ( ). His armor and backpack, dropped on the floor behind him, quickly dissolve into a green slime puddle.

[d20+2=17] A round or so later, Berthold's oil flask hits the corner where the slime is dead-center, breaks and begins burning. Heimer and Schmidt join in (after the first throw, I'll assume you can just get within 10 feet or so and keep tossing oil until the slime is burned up, so no need to roll for that), and soon the slime is all burned away - even on the ceiling, from what you can see.

Actions?

I guess we have to get back to town now, says Berthold. You will need to replace almost… he looks at the state of Salty’s undergarments I mean, absolutely everything.
