Re: Delve #8
I wish I had some holy water to do the thing right, but this Bless spell on my scroll might help defuse the evil. Weapons may do the job, if we are careful. He hefts his magic mace in a pondering manner.
Holy Schmidt He swears by his pretty floral bonnet...

I'm feeling a little chilly, Salty says, lighting a torch & waving it at the slate, Anyone else think this place needs warming up?
Re: Delve #8
I’m not sure black marble will burn, Salty, says Berthold. But if we topple it, perhaps on the skulls of those evil acolytes, it will be enough.
He searches said acolytes, looting them but also looking for keys for the cell. He will also loot the head cleric and take the ruby eyes and scimitar, which may be magical.

Fair point , Tholdy, Salty chuckles.
Let's take a peek at the old by.

Is there a way, via strength and leverage, to topple the thing?
Schmidt gives the altar a more appraising look. Nothing weird about it, other than it's an evil altar?

Re: Delve #8
One of the acolytes has a key on his belt, and both have silver tracings on their hammers which might be valuable.
With Berthold standing next to him with a key , Salty gets to work on the lock [d100=15], picking it without much difficulty. The man inside is immensely grateful to be freed, and introduces himself as Stan, a local farmer who was waylaid while working in his fields. He has been in the cell for three days, and is hungry and thirsty.JimboJimbo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 2:41 pmFair point , Tholdy, Salty chuckles.

Are Berthold and/or Schmidt staying away from the altar or getting closer to inspect it?
From a distance, it appears as described, with the dagger atop it. Someone would need to get closer to examine it or damage/topple it, etc.
Actions?
Re: Delve #8
The rubies you are familiar with from your run-in with the skeletons in the previous delve. The head cleric's hammer has similar silver tracings on it as the acolytes, and he carries a scroll of several spells - cause light wounds, darkness, and hold person. The scimitar appears normal.

Maybe there'san alchemist in town go can give us something to destroy the altar, Salty says.
I think we should get back. I want to see if Twig grows into a sapling when we bury him.
