Bel'xor and Wenic don't have their own light source. Can Guthry shine his light so we can see the start of that eastern corridor?

Guthry is happy to shine his lantern eastward. The east tunnel turns south a short distance to a door (showing the door just to save time, assuming he peeked around the corner and came back to the party just north of the four-way intersection).

While they are peeking to the east, Schmidt takes a listen at the door to the west.

Illuminated by Phelim's torch behind him in the intersection, Schmidt can see the word "beware" is scrawled in dark red paint on the door to the west, in common. He does not hear anything beyond it.

Meanwhile, back at the intersection, Bel'xor and Phelim hear voices and footsteps from the north - a group of creatures are in or near the entry room you were just in, obviously not caring to be quiet. Their language is not understandable to either of you, and your torchlight does not illuminate past the southernmost gargoyle statues, so you can't see anything yet.

Actions?

Phelim will inform the others of upcoming danger and suggest dimming the lights so we can set up an ambush.

Schmidt grimly nods in silent agreement with an ambush and finds a spot near, but to the side of the door after taking out his flail.

Bel'xor agrees w/ the plan, switches out his spear for his bow.

Sounds like you will be waiting in the western corridor, near the door that Schmidt was listening at? Let me know if not (that corridor is only 10' long, so you will all be very crowded in there but you could do it).

I'll assume Guthry can shutter his lantern, will Phelim put out his torch?

Phelim will quickly put out his torch, and ready his spear. If the creatures come through the corridor (into the ambush) he will attempt to backstab one of them.

In this situation would you allow Bel'xor to stand ready with his bow and shoot from the second rank before melee? Seen it ruled both ways. Either way, Bel'xor will stand ready behind Wennic, with bow if that's possible; or if not, with spear to potentially attack from second rank with that.
