I had a sorta-similar one about a year ago, at least a Tucker's Kobolds moment, after I realized my friends (we reformed our MS/HS D&D group when COVID hit) either didn't remember going through the Caves of Chaos or hadn't done it. But I had Dave Prata's 1e conversion of B2, and they were oh so happy to find the kobold lair. "We're going to roll over them!" Just so much fun playing that out, and the realization they had that there probably wouldn't be as much treasure there as when they cleared out the gnolls and etc. A third wanted to be more strategic, a third wanted to get the heck out and a third were like "screw these kobolds, we gotta kill them." One of my buddies wanted to use more powerful items they found in later lairs to go back and get the kobolds! :lol:
