Berthold makes a closer examination of the eyes. Is the rest of the bust painted? If not, how can the eyes be faded, he wonders. Are they a different substance?

I think you’re right, Schmidt. Perhaps we should feed the brass head some gold to tell us more about this stone head.
It's not painted - looking closely he can see the eyes look like they have been worn down, they are a bit flat in the center.

I make about 30gp to the right buyer. I cam probably find one, but moving it isn't worth thr effort. Here, let me see if it'shiding any tricks

Salty checks the statue for tricks, traps, hidden compartments, secret messages, and girls scout cookies. Being the curious sort, he does touch the eyes but not before he sleight-of-hands a gold coin somewhere one the brigand God's visage.

Salty doesn't see anything that looks like a trap. When he touches the eyes, he hears a grinding noise and the entire podium slides back and to the side - into the wall itself, and revealing a 10' wide corridor heading north. Just at the edge of your torch light, you can see the corridor turns west. The air smells musty, as if no one has been here in a while.

Cedric will stay very still, but keep his eyes and ears open.

let me have a quick scout ahead, Tholdy. I've got a bad feeling about this and I have a smaller silhouette

Salty prepares to slip into the shadows and have a quick crawl ahead.

Let me know if Berthold and Schmidt will let Salty scout ahead, or all go together, or something else?

I don't think Salty wants the plate mail clad cleric lumbering along behind him :)
Schmidt and Heimer remain, listening and watching for any trouble.
Holy Schmidt He swears by his pretty floral bonnet...
